South Korean Engagement Near Chu Lai
February 14, 1967 - February 15, 1967
The 11th Company of the Republic of Korea 2d Marine (Blue Dragon) Brigade is surrounded and attacked by a regiment-sized force of Viet Cong and North Vietnamese troops near a village southwest of Chu Lai. The attackers breach the Koreans’ perimeter with bangalore torpedoes and flame throwers. Some Korean troops are forced to resort to hand-to-hand combat. A South Korean counterattack ultimately drives off the larger enemy force.1
