A total of 26 men of 4 Troop, First Ranger Squadron, of the New Zealand Special Air Service (NZSAS) arrive in South Vietnam. They are attached to the Australian Special Air Service at Nui Dat, in III Corps. While NZSAS detachments have previously served in Thailand, this is their first Vietnam deployment. They conduct long range patrols and ambushes against enemy supply lines. New Zealand’s troop commitment in Vietnam peaks at roughly 550 personnel.1
