Air Force Captain Who Died in Vietnam War Honored

The 8-year-old great-grandson of an Air Force Captain who died in Vietnam was pinned with an insignia from his great-grandfather's uniform Tuesday in a ceremony in Bedford, Va.

Congressman Robert Hurt, of Virginia's 5th district, made the presentation honoring the sacrifice of Capt. Terrence Richard Titus and his family on the steps of the Bedford General District Courthouse.

Stephen Titus, who was 8-years-old when his father's plane crashed in Pleiku Province in 1965, accepted the Vietnam War Commemoration certificate on behalf of his father and his family, including Stephen Titus's grandson Jackson Davis.

"I was pinned an air medal one day after today in 1965, and so it's a great honor and special time to have him here with me," said Stephen Titus.

The Vietnam War Commemoration is a Department of Defense program with the mission of thanking and honoring the Vietnam veterans and their families where they work and live, in their hometowns.
