The DAR Chief Shawano Chapter of Michigan held a luncheon honoring the veterans of the Vietnam War Era July 12, 2014 in Lewiston, Michigan.
A total of 67 people attended, including 23 Vietnam Veterans and over 30 veterans, including veterans of Patriot Place in Gaylord, Mich.
Each Vietnam Veteran was given a Vietnam War flag and a special pin from the Department of Defense. Everyone enjoyed a flag arch entrance from the local American Legion Post 198, a delicious lunch prepared by the women of the church, and an entertaining musical program performed by local veterans.
We were especially grateful to our member, Gloria Campbell, who performed a special musical tribute to the veterans.
As part of the program, we provided information about the Vietnam War Commemoration 50th Anniversary activities and the National Great Lakes Veteran Cemetery.
The C.A.R. State President, Courtney Ozog presented her Veterans State project.
Everyone who attended was thankful for the recognition and thanks we were able to demonstrate for the Service they had given to our Country.
