Description: The Traveling Wall will be spending 3 days at Lindbergh High School, June 13-16. They are expecting 4,000- 5,000 people. The expected number of Vietnam Veterans will be at minimum 150. There are 3 other Vietnam Veterans groups that will also be represented over the 3 days but at the current time the POC does not know their organizations title. They are interested in all the mementos we have. Mr. karolczak would also be interested in the possibility of display’s(pop-up’s/ banner’s) being sent out. Mail all memento’s to the POC.

Funding, personnel and leadership changes and challenges within the POW/MIA accounting community ensure information provided during the briefings and panel discussions will be vital and will affect every family member and concerned American.

Roanoke Valley Veteran's Council is sponsering a Welcome Vietnam Veterans 2 Day Event. On 12 June the Salem Red Sox (Class A affiliate with the Boston Red Sox) will host a Vietnam Veterans Appreciation Day at the park. The Salem Red Sox's, City of Salem, City of Roanoke and the Town of Vinton will become CP and fly the Commemoration Flag at the ballpark. Local government officials will be on hand to salute the Vietnam Veterans. On Flag Day (Army Birthday) 14 June an event will be held at the Vinton War Memorial. The VA National Guard Adjutant General will speak along with Congressional Representatives. A montage of the pictures and names of 100 Roanoke Valley and area servicemen on the Vietnam Veterans Memorial "The Wall" will be looped on a large screen at the event. C&W Recording artist Rockie Lynne will perform. The 29th VA National Guard Army Band will perform if approved. The Roanoke Community Band will perform.
