Biennial National Conventions are held to provide an opportunity to renew friendships, to meet with other members in local chapters and regions, and to receive up-to-date information on relevant Nurse Corps activities as well as veteran and retiree affairs.

Georgia's Honorable Governor Nathan Deal will be presented the Vietnam War 50th Commemorative Flag and Certificate by LTG (R) Mick Kicklighter, Director of DoD Commemorations. This event will be the "kick-off" event to honor Georgia's approximate 254,000 Vietnam Veterans.

This weekend is called The Ride Home. The goal each year is to invite former POWs and MIA families offering a weekend of honor and recognition commensurate with their extraordinary courage & valor.

The primary purpose this event is to present the Governor of Georgia with the Vietnam War Commemorative flag and certificate. This event will be the “kick-off” event to honor Georgia’s approximate 254,000 Vietnam Veterans. Veterans’ organizations will be notified of this event through the Governor’s office.

Amtrak has made a commitment to hire veterans. The have unveiled a new locomotive to honor veterans and as the locomotive travels around the country, it will stop at certain stations to highlight these hiring initiatives. A member of the Commemoration can not physically be at each one of these stops but we will be putting together and restocking a "Vietnam War Commemoration Kit" which will include our brochures, giveaways and a desk-top pop-up to be displayed at each stop, whether on the train itself of in the station.
