The New Jersey Vietnam Veterans' Memorial Foundation will hold its annual POW/MIA Recognition and Gold Star Mothers Recognition Day ceremony on Friday, September 21, 2012, at 11:00 AM at the New Jersey Vietnam Veterans' Memorial in Holmdel, NJ. The third Friday of September is National POW/MIA Recognition Day. Ceremonies are held throughout the country in honor of America's prisoners of war and missing in action, those returned and those still unaccounted for from our nation's wars.

Biennial National Conventions are held to provide an opportunity to renew friendships, to meet with other members in local chapters and regions, and to receive up-to-date information on relevant Nurse Corps activities as well as veteran and retiree affairs.

This weekend is called The Ride Home. The goal each year is to invite former POWs and MIA families offering a weekend of honor and recognition commensurate with their extraordinary courage & valor.

Members of the Commemoration will present the Commemorative Partnership Flag and Certificate to the Special Guerrilla Unit (SGU) from Wisconsin and Minnesota (joint event).

We would have to rent AV materials, we do have a microphone. We were looking at about 20 minutes for the presentation of certificates and flags to the 7 regions and a few words from the speaker. I know this time is brief so the General may decide not to come, although Yvonne contacted our board president stating he was interested in attending. The presentation would be during the opening ceremonies on Friday the 20th which start at 0830. The welcome ceremonies will be followed by a brief Memorial ceremony, and then there are tours. If someone is able to attend I will send program information to you in a couple of weeks. As you noted the Board of Directors. There are usually 2 or 3 of past Chiefs (07-08) of the Air Force Nurse Corps and sometimes the current Chief of the Corps. We won't know who will attend until the registration process is complete the first of August. We have invited the Governor of Maine and his wife to welcome the group to Maine and are still awaiting their reply. We can let you know any DGs as soon are we are aware of their attendance.
