Vietnam Moving Wall will be coming back to Kenner, LA after 21 years

To honor our Veterans and those who worked with other organizations in support of our troops in Vietnam.

The purpose of this event is to tell the story of the Vietnam War, the men and women who were there, the comraderies they developed, the horrors of war they experienced and the friends that never made it back through a litany of pictures and other exhibits.

20 members of a living history group will set-up a Vietnam-era Fire Support Base and give oral histories to the public.

To promote partnerships with local businesses and veterans organizations during the Sheriff's Rodeo. Vietnam Veterans of America-Ch. 511 will have a table set up at event.

Annual Alabama State Convention of the Military Order of the Purple Heart held 2 May 2014 and 3 May 2014

10th Annual Blue Star Salute Celebration with a 5K Memorial Run/Walk to honor our fallen heroes. Governor Robert Bentley is the keynote speaker.

Samuel Johnston Chapter Members are encouraged to knit and crochet warm scarves for the annual "Knit Your Bit" campaign that is sponsored by the National WW 2 Museum in New Orleans. Chapter members donated 24 hand-made scarves which are given to elderly and hospitalized veterans in VA facilities nationwide. Many are veterans of the Vietnam War. This is a year-round project for several of our Chapter members.
