Events

Each year, the League hosts an annual meeting that brings together a wide spectrum of US officials to update the POW/MIA families, veterans, and other Americans on efforts being made and recent progress on the issue. The 2014 meeting will be held at the Hilton Crystal City in Arlington, Virginia, from Thursday, June 12th through Saturday, June 15th. Registration will be done in advance with forms being sent by mail after the first of the year. Meeting credentials (name tag, materials, etc.) will be available for pick-up on June 11th after 3:30 p.m. at the Hilton Crystal City.

Twilight Tattoo is an hour-long military pageant featuring Soldiers from the 3rd U.S. Infantry Regiment (The Old Guard) and The U.S. Army Band "Pershing's Own." Experience a glimpse into American history through performances by The U.S. Army Blues, vocalists from The U.S. Army Band Downrange and U.S. Army Voices, The Old Guard Fife and Drum Corps, and The U.S. Army Drill Team. This particular performance will pay tribute to Vietnam Veterans and families

The mission of these events is to reach out to Vietnam Veterans and bring them in to discuss Agent Orange and ways the Veterans Services can support these veterans.

This event will educate and reach out to the cub scouts and teach them U.S. history of the Vietnam War and committee members will each the cub scouts how to thank and honor veterans and their families, The Commemorative flag will be displayed and explained and materials will be given away.

Recognize Vietnam Veterans as they attend zoo exhibits

Samuel Johnston Chapter Members are encouraged to knit and crochet warm scarves for the annual "Knit Your Bit" campaign that is sponsored by the National WW 2 Museum in New Orleans. Chapter members donated 24 hand-made scarves which are given to elderly and hospitalized veterans in VA facilities nationwide. Many are veterans of the Vietnam War. This is a year-round project for several of our Chapter members.

Special Recognition service to 26 men and women who serviced in WWII, Korea, Vietnam, Afghanistan and Iraq.

Thanked and honored Vietnam veterans in Grafton, VT by presenting them with Certificates and pins.
