Events

The mission of these events is to reach out to Vietnam Veterans and bring them in to discuss Agent Orange and ways the Veterans Services can support these veterans.

The Wall That Heals will be hosted by the National D-Day Memorial for 4 days of events and activities dedicated to honoring and remembering veterans. http://www.buildthecenter.vvmf.org/page/event/detail/thewallthathealsevent/jrr

The Vietnam Veterans Commemorative Trail is located in Price County and has 13 markers to represent the 13 years of service and sacrifice of the brothers and sisters in arms. The markers denote events of the war that were deemed important by Vietnam Veterans. The trail is a commemorative project to remind the public of the sacrifices made by this group of unheralded veterans.

Honor one of Kentucky's POW/MIA's

The USAF Forward Air Controller detachment (Red Markers) that supported the Vietnamese Airborne Division and its advisors in MACV Team 162 will be honored with a plaque to be installed at the USAF Academy's SEA Pavilion.

Veterans Day of Service & Bull City Stand Down for Homeless Veterans--Day long (0830-1400), one stop shop for all community services available to veterans. Dedicated in 2014 to remembering those who served during the Vietnam Era. Special recognition during opening ceremonies. Co-Hosted by the Vietnam Veterans Living Memorial/Bull City Stand Down

To commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the arrival of our unit, an Army helicopter company, in Viet Nam. Notably, the date of arrival in 1964 and the date of the reunion in 2014, are both September 18th.

To honor our veterans, to raise funds to build a Vietnam Memorial Replica Wall 60% size of The Wall. The Replica Wall will be identical to the Wall in DC.

these events will inform fellow Vietnam veterans and civilians that it will be 50 years since the start of Vietnam war and that multi events will be held to commemorate that date.

VVA Chapter 1025 is helping volunteer with the people finding names on the wall, walking people up to the wall, doing guard duty on the Vietnam Memorial Wall.

Spirit of America

Annual Michigan DAR Conference. Vietnam Veterans will be recognized. Vietnam Veterans will be presented tin pins. Possible- certificates for those authorized. Yvonne Schilz will speak on the Commemoration and have a booth.

We will be handing out personalized thank you notes from our Chapter with the pin attached. We work closely with a number of Veterans organizations and will be personally thanking Vietnam Veterans for their service.

Recognizing Vietnam Veterans and POW/MIA Day.

To provide supplies to the Commemorative Partners in the State of Michigan. Many of our chapters find it difficult to use the website. So many times they come to me looking for supplies. I show them how to work the website to order the supplies, but generally to late to get the supplies in, so they borrow from me.

Every Tuesday the city of Plymouth provides musical entertainment at the park in the center of town. A DAR member noticed that there were many men wearing Vietnam caps that came each week. She would like to present each one of these men with a pin and a sticker.

We are showcasing the Commemorative flag and program materials that we framed, along with an Army uniform and a vest representing Forgotten Eagles of Michigan, Chapter 2. Two brothers are showcased in the Historical area of the County Bldg, along with the medals each earned and the coffin flag of the brother who gave his life in 1968 in Vietnam. The other brother served in Vietnam 1971-72. The remaining brother gives of his time and energy to help Veterans in many ways in the surrounding area. Our purpose for showcasing these items is to bring awareness to citizens in our county of those who have served and the sacrifices made by the military during Vietnam and their families. Another objective is to bring awareness to the surrounding community of the DAR and our past and continued support of Veterans.

A memorial to the veterans from Graves County who died in the Vietnam war. The Missing man ceremony will also be performed. 50th commemoration materials will be distributed.

Thank and Honor Vietnam Veterans

Allows the Vietnam War Commemoration to officially recognize the USAFA as a Commemorative Partner. This supports thanking and honoring Vietnam Veterans, objective #1.

To honor Vietnam Veterasn at a tailgate event before the football game and then at the Football game by playing patriotic music and inviting them onto the field as the VIP of the event.

Welcome Home Vietnam Veterans

Samuel Johnston Chapter Members are encouraged to knit and crochet warm scarves for the annual "Knit Your Bit" campaign that is sponsored by the National WW 2 Museum in New Orleans. Chapter members donated 24 hand-made scarves which are given to elderly and hospitalized veterans in VA facilities nationwide. Many are veterans of the Vietnam War. This is a year-round project for several of our Chapter members.

Members and visitors of the congregation were canvassed to identify veterans who served in Vietnam. There was 15 total. During the exhibit, a Kiosk was used that exhibited the presidential proclamation, flag, certificate, as well as two medals.

To meet with Mayor Bob Brown to show proclamations and honor Vietnam War Veterans packets sent by the Defense Dept. for the Constitution Week so the Lufkin and our Chapter will be partners in thanking war veterans. Ladies dressed in period costumes for the event.
