The mission of these events is to reach out to Vietnam Veterans and bring them in to discuss Agent Orange and ways the Veterans Services can support these veterans.

To thank and honor Vietnam Veterans with a "Bob Hope" USO Tour

The Vietnam Veterans Commemorative Trail is located in Price County and has 13 markers to represent the 13 years of service and sacrifice of the brothers and sisters in arms. The markers denote events of the war that were deemed important by Vietnam Veterans. The trail is a commemorative project to remind the public of the sacrifices made by this group of unheralded veterans.

these events will inform fellow Vietnam veterans and civilians that it will be 50 years since the start of Vietnam war and that multi events will be held to commemorate that date.

This event will be a memorial service and a healing for many Vietnam Veterans that are currently in the healing phase of their rehabilitation. This event is held annually and maintains support from the Asheville VAMC staff and NCDVA staff. This is a very somber event and does not require or need media coverage. A 4 day event it climaxes with a trip to the Vietnam Wall in Washington DC, and a memorial service there.

We will be handing out personalized thank you notes from our Chapter with the pin attached. We work closely with a number of Veterans organizations and will be personally thanking Vietnam Veterans for their service.

To provide supplies to the Commemorative Partners in the State of Michigan. Many of our chapters find it difficult to use the website. So many times they come to me looking for supplies. I show them how to work the website to order the supplies, but generally to late to get the supplies in, so they borrow from me.

Every Tuesday the city of Plymouth provides musical entertainment at the park in the center of town. A DAR member noticed that there were many men wearing Vietnam caps that came each week. She would like to present each one of these men with a pin and a sticker.

We will be giving personalized certificates and pins to our local Vietnam Vets from our local Chapter

Welcome Home Vietnam Veterans

Collected warm clothing (sweatshirts, Socks,fleece pants, scarves,gloves, hats) and food for the VA Clothes Closet and Food Pantry to give to Veterans (many are Vietnam Veterans)in need, both in-patients and out-patients. Many are homeless or living below the poverty line. The VA Social Workers and Volunteer Services Director handle the distribution.

Samuel Johnston Chapter Members are encouraged to knit and crochet warm scarves for the annual "Knit Your Bit" campaign that is sponsored by the National WW 2 Museum in New Orleans. Chapter members donated 24 hand-made scarves which are given to elderly and hospitalized veterans in VA facilities nationwide. Many are veterans of the Vietnam War. This is a year-round project for several of our Chapter members.
