The Vietnam Veterans Commemorative Trail is located in Price County and has 13 markers to represent the 13 years of service and sacrifice of the brothers and sisters in arms. The markers denote events of the war that were deemed important by Vietnam Veterans. The trail is a commemorative project to remind the public of the sacrifices made by this group of unheralded veterans.

The focus of the event will be to honor Vietnam veterans on the 50th anniversary of the Vietnam War. All veterans are invited to attend and our guest speaker will be a DAV. The program will feature a Sons of the American Revolution Color Guard & Rifle Squad assisted by the local VFW & American Legion Posts. A local JROTC Cadet unit will also perform basic drill.

The Mobile Vietnam Veterans Memorial for the Antelope Valley is a 1/2 scale true replica of the DC Wall. 252 feet in length and engraved with all 58,299 names of those KIA, MIA, and POW, it honors those names on the Wall and Veterans of all ages. It is engraved so that rubbings can be made, and fulfills #s 1-3 for the commemorative objectives

Our initial 'event' in the community to bring attention to the 50th anniversary celebration. The library will be displaying this all month long in November to coincide with Veteran's day. There will be flags, books and information on the Vietnam War on display. This will be also be exposure to find Vietnam Vets in our community to invite them to our events next spring and fall and subsequent events until 2025.

The Brazos Valley Vietnam Memorial is dedicated to those that lost their lives during the Vietnam War from the Brazos Valley. So far there are 58 names to be inscribed on the memorial. November 9, 2014 is the formal dedication of this memorial. The event will recognize those that lost their lives as well as those Vietnam Veterans who returned home and the families that supported them. This event will accomplish Commemorative Objective #1: To thank and honor veterans of the Vietnam War, including personnel who were held as prisoners of war or listed as missing in action, for their service and sacrifice on behalf of the United States and to thank and honor the families of these veterans.

The Williamstown Library in Wood County WV will host a small exhibit showing Vietnam War veterans from our area who were killed in action, including one POW/MIA, and one who was awarded the Bronze Star. The exhibit will include some war statistics and photos taken by members of the US military who served in Vietnam. The Vietnam Veterans of America flag will be on display along with small POW and MIA flags, and bookmarks commemorating the Vietnam War will be available for library patrons.

The Army & Air Force Exchange Service, along with Procter & Gamble, are commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Vietnam War with an essay contest that provides Vietnam veterans and family members an opportunity to share memories of their local PX/BX experience overseas or back home during the Vietnam War. Exchange gift cards totaling $4,000 will be awarded to four winners. Collected warm clothing (sweatshirts, Socks,fleece pants, scarves,gloves, hats) and food for the VA Clothes Closet and Food Pantry to give to Veterans (many are Vietnam Veterans)in need, both in-patients and out-patients. Many are homeless or living below the poverty line. The VA Social Workers and Volunteer Services Director handle the distribution.

Samuel Johnston Chapter Members are encouraged to knit and crochet warm scarves for the annual "Knit Your Bit" campaign that is sponsored by the National WW 2 Museum in New Orleans. Chapter members donated 24 hand-made scarves which are given to elderly and hospitalized veterans in VA facilities nationwide. Many are veterans of the Vietnam War. This is a year-round project for several of our Chapter members.
