The Vietnam Veterans Commemorative Trail is located in Price County and has 13 markers to represent the 13 years of service and sacrifice of the brothers and sisters in arms. The markers denote events of the war that were deemed important by Vietnam Veterans. The trail is a commemorative project to remind the public of the sacrifices made by this group of unheralded veterans.

Guest speaker will be a Veteran from the Marine Corp who served in Vietnam and will share some of his stories. He will receive a medal and certificate, possibly proclamations from NJ & TX Governors. All Veterans in attendance will be honored & those serving in Vietnam will receive a certificate; all those who have served will be asked to stand up for applause.

CHRISTMAS TREE TO HONOR VIETNAM VETS The Los Gatos Chapter of the DAUGHTERS of the AMERICAN REVOLUTION (DAR) will commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the Vietnam War by dedicating a holiday tree for Vietnam Veterans. CHRISTMAS TREE & VETERANS ORNAMENTS * Los Gatos DAR members will decorate a Christmas Tree and dedicate it exclusively for Vietnam Veterans. * An individual ornament will be created for each Vietnam Veteran who provides his/her name. Vets may also include any other pertinent information such as: rank, branch of service, dates of service, and photo (if they wish). WHEN & WHERE * The tree will be unveiled on Saturday, November 29 from 12-4 p.m. at King's Court Shopping Center, 792 Blossom Hill Road in Los Gatos. * The Vietnam Veterans' tree (Tree #11) will be located by the entrance of Lunardis. * Vietnam Veterans are invited to attend the kick off of the tree displays, and are encouraged to create their own ornaments to bring and hang on the tree. There will be voting from November 29 - December 7. The winning tree gets an award.

The purpose is to honor the Vietnam Veterans of the US Army 22nd Infamtry Regiment, their support units and friends. We will present DAR certificates, and serve lunch. The following day on Dec. 7, the veterans are invited to join DAR members in attending church at the First Christian Church in Phoenix. Dr. Thomas Boice who was Chaplain of the 22nd US Army Regiment during the WWII Day Day invasion was the founding pastor of the church. A memorial to the 22nd Regiment lies on the chuch grounds.

Collected warm clothing (sweatshirts, Socks,fleece pants, scarves,gloves, hats) and food for the VA Clothes Closet and Food Pantry to give to Veterans (many are Vietnam Veterans)in need, both in-patients and out-patients. Many are homeless or living below the poverty line. The VA Social Workers and Volunteer Services Director handle the distribution.

Samuel Johnston Chapter Members are encouraged to knit and crochet warm scarves for the annual "Knit Your Bit" campaign that is sponsored by the National WW 2 Museum in New Orleans. Chapter members donated 24 hand-made scarves which are given to elderly and hospitalized veterans in VA facilities nationwide. Many are veterans of the Vietnam War. This is a year-round project for several of our Chapter members.
