The Vietnam Veterans Commemorative Trail is located in Price County and has 13 markers to represent the 13 years of service and sacrifice of the brothers and sisters in arms. The markers denote events of the war that were deemed important by Vietnam Veterans. The trail is a commemorative project to remind the public of the sacrifices made by this group of unheralded veterans.

The Lily of the Cahaba Chapter contributed to the purchase of Christmas wreaths for the graves of Vietnam veterans at the Alabama National Cemetery and helped to place them at the markers.

Wreaths Across America event will place wreaths at the grave markers of Veterans including our Viet Nam Veterans. Patriot Guard Riders and Combat Veterans Motorcycle groups with many Viet Nam Veterans will be participating. We will be honoring and thanking our Viet Nam Veterans by flying the 50th Anniversary Flag, and giving the pins to the Vets that attend the event.

The Baton Rouge Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution will host the ninth annual Wreaths Across America Program at Port Hudson National Cemetery in Zachary, Louisiana on Saturday, December 13, 2014. The program will begin at 11:00 a.m.to coincide with the program at Arlington National Cemetery. The program honors veterans and active duty servicemen and women in all branches of the military. The Baton Rouge Chapter program will honor all veterans with special emphasis on veterans of the Vietnam War. The Memorial wreaths placed for each branch of the military will be placed by Vietnam War Veterans. The Vietnam War veterans will be asked to stand and be recognized, and members of the Children of the American Revolution will present 50th anniversary commemoration veteran buttons. Family members of Vietnam War veterans will also be given commemoration veteran buttons for those veterans who are not able to attend the program. The program will begin with the presentation of the colors by the U.S. Marine Corps Color Guard, followed by the pledge of allegiance and singing of the national anthem. The Baton Rouge Caledonia Pipes and Drums will play a salute to each branch of the military when the Memorial wreaths are presented. The guest speaker will be retired Army Colonel, Thomas Moore. Next will be the roll call of the families laying wreaths. Naval Sea Cadets and Civil Air Patrol Cadets will escort the attending families to lay a wreath on the grave of their loved one. A fly over will be performed by a private pilot in a T6 plane. The Caledonia Pipes and Drums will conclude the program with the playing of "Amazing Grace" and "Taps". Members of the Baton Rouge Chapter DAR, JROTC Cadets, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, and Cadets from the Civil Air Patrol and Naval Sea Division will place wreaths on graves in both the Port Hudson Cemetery and the Louisiana National Cemetery on December 12, 2014 in preparation for the program. The Ocotillo Chapter NSDAR invited Lieutenant Colonel, United States Air Force, Retired, Tom Kirk to speak to our chapter. He gave a program entitled "Freedom - What it Means to Me". He and his wife were our guests at our Annual Holiday Luncheon at the Anthem Country Club which followed our chapter meeting and his program. A donation in his name was made to Anthem Cares Through Service, an organization to which Tom has strong ties.
