The mission of these events is to reach out to Vietnam Veterans and bring them in to discuss Agent Orange and ways the Veterans Services can support these veterans.

The Vietnam Veterans Commemorative Trail is located in Price County and has 13 markers to represent the 13 years of service and sacrifice of the brothers and sisters in arms. The markers denote events of the war that were deemed important by Vietnam Veterans. The trail is a commemorative project to remind the public of the sacrifices made by this group of unheralded veterans.

these events will inform fellow Vietnam veterans and civilians that it will be 50 years since the start of Vietnam war and that multi events will be held to commemorate that date.

We will be handing out personalized thank you notes from our Chapter with the pin attached. We work closely with a number of Veterans organizations and will be personally thanking Vietnam Veterans for their service.

There are two events. On February 21 we have our chapter meeting at 248 S Ute Avenue. Our program will be given by a Vietnam War Veteran. We expect up to 100 members and guest. On Memorial Day weekend we will be dedicating a Monument/marker for the Vietnam War Veterans and their families at the Veterans Memorial Cemetery of Western Colorado. This service that the marker will be dedicated for normally has 1000 plus veterans and guests.

Welcome Home Vietnam Veterans

Our purpose is to honor and recognize, in general, all service men and women who died while serving and defending our country; and in particular, those of the Vietnam War era. To this aim, we honor our active military and living veterans as well. Additionally, we educate our local young people about our defenders and instill in them a sense of pride and patriotism, while reaffirming to older Americans what patriotism and love of country truly means. This year our theme is the 50th Anniversary of the Vietnam War. Prior to the parade, we sponsor an art and essay contest for our local schoolchildren, in which the theme is Vietnam. Days before the parade, we hold a lovely awards dinner for those participants. We would love to give the contest participants some of the stickers and pins as well as use the posters to educate all attendees. We are hoping that a booth at the end of the parade, where large crowds assemble will be heavily visited. Additionally, we would like a speaker for our closing ceremony. Of course, we would be honored to have your staff proudly march in the parade as well.

1- To Thank and honor Veterans of the Vietnam War, for their service and sacrifices. 2- April 18, 2015-We will present the Patriot Guard Riders with a Community Service Award and honor all the Vietnam Veterans Present. 3-Summer 2015-Brat picnic give-way to Vietnam Veterans to acknowledge and honor their service.

16 May 2015-DAR meeting and Presentation of Vietnam Commemorative Certificates and Pins to our Chapter DAR Veterans/Family. Elementary School-Wounded Warrior 5K run. The students make Thank You cards and hand them out to Veterans. With materals we will be able to raise awareness of the 50th anniversary of the Vietnam War and recognize those that served.

Farmington has over 200 Vietnam veterans living in the community but there is no veterans organization for them to gather and meet. The veterans will be able to to do this when they attend the "Bring your own brown bag" lunches which will be held at the Farmington Town Hall from 11 am to 1 pm the second Wednesday of each month until December 2017. The main focus is to give the veterans a place where they can casually gather and share but a short program will be designed by sometimes inviting guest speakers. The local DAR chapter will present certificates to all Vietnam veterans who attend.

We plan on attending their meeting and honoring the Vietnam Veterans with the certificate and button or pin.

To make veterans and the public aware of the 50th Commemoration of the Vietnam war; handing out information on Vietnam veterans issues, agent orange issues, and health concerns for Vietnam veterans. Tabletop display is held at the VA Hospital the second and fourth Wednesdays of each month for 8 hours per day.

Recoginze the Vietnam Veterans on Memorial Day, and also set up displays in the libraries, and historcial society building.

This traveling exhibit details the American prisoner of war experience from the Civil War to modern conflicts. It was created by the National Park Service in cooperation with the American Ex-Prisoners of War and the Friends of Andersonville, to give more citizens the opportunity to explore the American POW story. This is truly an appropriate exhibit for the Frontiers of Flight Museum. Since the advent of the use of aircraft as weapons of war, many American POWs have been aircrew members who crash-landed or bailed out behind enemy lines. There is an extensive educational value to this exhibit, especially for younger generations who may not have a good understanding about this facet of America’s armed conflicts. They also may not understand that in this context, the “prisoners” were not criminals, but American heroes who resisted their captors while upholding the U.S. Military Code of Conduct. The lighting in the exhibit is subdued to reflect the gloom of the POW camp environment and the prisoners’ existence. Toward the end of the exhibit, a highlighted “FREEDOM” graphic signals the way to the exit as additional graphics celebrate the POWs’ eventual repatriation. The exhibit includes sections on Capture, Prison Life, Those Who Wait, and Freedom, and displays artifacts and audio-visual interviews from actual prisoners of war which serves as a memorial to all American prisoners of war.

The town on Waynesboro, PA is having a town Memorial Day celebration to honor the deceased veterans in their town, and Franklin County Chapter, NSDAR, has purchased one banner in honor of Paul Richard Smith, who was killed in Vietnam, and had graduated from Waynesboro Area School District in 1963.

We will be honoring the Vietnam War Veterans who are still with us. We are also recognizing the veterans who were killed in action and one who is missing in action, plus the ones who have died since the war. All will be given certificates and pins. We have a Vietnam War Veterna who will give a moving speech.

Memorial Day Parade in Downtown Aiken SC, annual event to involve all branches of service and Vietnam Vets incorporated. Start at Park Avenue to Laurens Street, ending on Laurens St. Approximately one mile.

Can you add sending 1 set of posters (every one of them). This is for an exhibit he is doing in San Diego that will go till 2017, so I think based on what he’s doing, we can send 1 of everything. Opening ceremony of new permanent exhibit on the Vietnam Experience on the 50th Anniversary of the Vietnam War. Exhibits, displays, timelines, oral histories, and personal stories tell the experiences of San Diegans in the Vietnam War on 4/30/2015. Exhibit opens to public on May 1st, 2015.

Memorial Day Weekend Celebration

Our Daughters of the American Revolution Chapter members will help fly nearly 400 casket flags at our local cemetery. We will work with our local Legion members.

To identify Vietnam Vets in the community and to public acknowledge of the vets and their families.

The parade will be dedicated to all the Vietnam Vets this year. we will be recognizing them at the ceremony at the conclusion of the parade. A lunch will be held at the Irish Rover Station House to all the vets the join us at the parade and ceremony.

This summer in recognition of the 50th anniversary of US involvement in Vietnam, the First Division Museum will present the exhibit, Five Years in the Jungle: Vietnam Experiences of the 1st Infantry Division 1965-1970. The exhibit will include an array of artifacts collected by 1ID units and individuals during service in Vietnam. A significant portion of those objects will be on display in a representation of the division’s in-country museum where visitors will experience how soldiers would learn about the threats they would face in Vietnam. In 1967, the 3rd Brigade created a museum as part of the Combat Introduction Course to help familiarize new soldiers with the weapons, uniforms, equipment, and methods of the NVA and VC. Division HQ took this model and created a museum that served the same purpose for all soldiers who joined the 1st ID. The museum recreation will even include several pieces from the original in-country museums. Another exciting component of the exhibit will be a floor map of the division’s AO. The illustrated map will colorfully depict III Corps Tactical Zone highlighting 1ID areas of operation and will include an inset of both North and South Vietnam for context. Visitors will be able to walk on the map to get a close up look at locations. Surrounding the map will be artifact clusters that tie to specific battles, individuals, locations and unique stories highlighting the entire five year period of the 1st ID’s deployment. Through these artifacts, including significant amounts of captured material, the story of soldiers engaging a skilled and determined enemy will come into focus. In addition, there will be a timeline highlighting important events during the Vietnam War, photo enlargements that portray the different environments found throughout III Corps and a music interactive that will allow visitors to listen to music and create their own playlists. Visitors should leave the exhibit with a better understanding of the experiences of 1st Division soldiers during the Vietnam War and a better understanding of those difficult years.

The New York National Guard's Military History Museum partners with Skidmore College to open a new exhibit May 1 honoring the service of the Capital Region's Vietnam Veterans. Students from the Skidmore College History course, "The Vietnam War in American Memory," taught by Professor David Kieran, gathered the oral histories of 11 Vietnam era-veterans from Saratoga Springs. A joint effort between the students and the NYS Military Museum and Veterans Research Center will be featured in a new public exhibit through November 2015 as part of Department Skidmore students learning about the Vietnam War in Professor Kieran's course sought out 11 area veterans and completed individual oral history assignments to learn more about Vietnam Veterans' diverse experiences. Through collaboration with Courtney Burns, Military History Director and curator of the NYS Military museum, a collection of the students' work, including veteran artifacts from Vietnam and materials that document their experiences, will be exhibited at the museum. The nation marked the start of the 50th Anniversary of the Vietnam War in 2012 and New York State, the New York National Guard, the City of Saratoga Springs and the Military Museum are all Commemorative Partners with the Department of Defense to honor the service of Vietnam Veterans and their families. Events hosted at the museum are intended to thank and honor veterans of the Vietnam War for their service and sacrifice on behalf of the United States and to thank and honor the families of these veterans. The exhibit featuring the Vietnam Veterans experience and their oral histories will be on display at the museum through Veterans Day 2015.

Quilt making for Vietnam vets in the community including the name and date of service on each one. Then, invited the veteran to a luncheon to present to them with a certificate. This is ongoing.

Annual Memorial Day parade. Hopefully we will be able to identify and recognize all Viet Nam Vets in attendance. We can thank them and present them with pins, stickers, etc...

This is an educational booth presented by the Ottawa Chapter DAR. The idea is to bring awareness about the Vietnam 50th Commemoration and create an interest list for future programs.

On Saturday, 5/23/15, the Governor (Nathan Deal) presented Georgia's Certificate of Honor and DoD Vietnam Veterans Lapel Pins to 20 veteran present. Guest Speaker for the event was Joe Kirby, editor of the local Marietta Daily Journal.

Every Memorial Day weekend the Red River Valley Chapter, KYDAR, places flags on the graves of military personnel. This year, this chapter gave special recognition to known Vietnam Veterans by placing roses on their graves with their flags. The total number of RRV members who participated: 5. They were: Gail Smith, Chapter Regent; Patricia Gordon, Chapter Vice-Regent; Donna Graves, Vietnam Commemoration Chairperson; Linda Abner, member; Nora Lee Walters, member. In addition, Sons of the American Revolution (SAR) member, Steven Graves, also attended one event to take pictures. In addition to the 49 roses that were placed on Vietnam Veterans' graves throughout Powell County, KY, Donna Graves met with the family of deceased Sgt Jerome Vice at the Owingsville Cemetery, Owingsville, Bath County, KY, to present them with a certificate of appreciation for his service and the family's sacrifice during the Vietnam War. Sgt Vice passed away in 2006 from lung cancer, leaving behind a wife, 2 sons, 1 daughter-in-law and several grandchildren. The family requested that this be done at his grave, in private, so they could feel closer to him during the presentation. Donna presented Mrs. Vice with his certificate of appreciation and placed a white rose on his headstone. Mrs. Vice was brought to tears and was only able to say "Thank you" to our chapter for remembering him during this time. The family was also very moved and expressed their gratitude as well. Sons of the American Revolution (SAR) member, Steven Graves, also attended to take pictures.

Placing flags at each veteran's gravesite including those who served in the Vietnam War. One specifically designated was Dennis Grace. Other names were not noted as it was a rainy, muddy day.

Members of DAR chapter worked with local Marines to place flags on graves of all veterans at Oaklawn Cemetery.

Marvin Dearman spoke about how many Vietnam veterans were buried in each garden. He was presented with a presidential proclamation.

U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs Rural Outreach/Standdown/Health fair, to thank and honor all veterans and their family members.

To honor the Vietnam War Veterans who currently reside in Cheyenne County with a DAR Certificate recognizing their valor, service, and sacrifice, the Presidential Proclamation, brochures, pins, and other items.

To display the Commemorative Flag and materials at the Horizon Book Store as a way to thank and honor our Vietnam Veterans.

24 Square Feet of window was decorated using brochures, fact sheets, maps, books, patriotic decorations, signage thanking our Vietnam Veteran's for their service. The display stood for 45 days.

American Legion Post and Auxillary were receptive and pleased with DAR's request to be a participant in the opening ceremony of Milan Old Timers Reunion and their Memorial Day Address.

Display packet was used to make a display at the Millbrook Library and was up for 6 weeks. The Director said it was enjoyed by all and many veterans came to see and talk about it.

The West Texas Collection display included a panel discussion and reception. The display ran from November 17, 2014 through July 31, 2015.

During the week before Memorial Day, this DAR chapter donated their Commemorative Flag to the Mountaineer Military Museum. The owner himself is a Vietnam War Era veteran. They pledged to fly it during the Memorial Day activities and display it in their Museum as a tribute to all veterans but especially those fallen Vietnam War friends of the owner's.

Memorial Day parade in Aiken to honor the fallen. DAR chapter had a float for commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Vietnam war and asked Vietnam veterans and their spouse to ride.

Chapter daughters prepared a display at the Heard County Museum featuring local Heard County Veterans' pictures and service information, the Commission Flag, 50th Anniversary information and a big note of Appreciation for all. The display was to be up from April thru September. Notices of the display and invitations to the public to visit were printed in the local newspaper.

Lt. Colonel Jerry Ericsson (Ret) spoke at Star of Destiny, NSDAR to relay his experiences as a decorated helicopter pilot in Vietnam and how the war forged the future of his life. As a tribute to him, Star of Destiny has purchased an engraved brick in Lt. Col. Ericsson's name and it has been placed in the Vietnam section of the Veteran's War Memorial, Plaza of Liberty in McAllen, Texas

Participated in annual ceremony honoring all veterans of the Vietnam War, which included a wreath laying ceremony and a reading of the names of those from Moore County, NC who lost their lives.

Our DAR chapter's Historic Preservation is collecting questionnaires regarding Vietnam Veterans experiences. This is an ongoing project and will conclude in March 2016. These questionnaires will be converted into a narrative form and compiled for the Katy Library.

The Lapeer County Committee members proposed to the county newspaper that they run an interview of a Vietnam Veteran once a month for the three years of the National Commemoration. The Lapeer County Press agreed and has run full page up to 1 1/4 pages of individual interviews of Lapeer County Vietnam Veterans. The articles have been very educational and have given a very real picture of the war from our heroes eyes. This publication covers more than Lapeer County. Public publication 2015-2018 Anticipated attendance is a guess as I don't know the county distribution hard copy and internet.

Our event was very successful! Isaac Hull Chapter and Old Goshen Trail Chapter co-hosted to help make the event a success for the veterans who attended. Our objective was to thank and honor veterans of the Vietnam War for their service and sacrifice on behalf of the United States and to thank and honor the families of these veterans.

The chapter compiled the Illinois Vietnam War Era Honor Roster Volume II to honor these veterans. This book lists Illinois Vietnam veterans and include name, rank, branch of service, service years, and identifies if they veteran was a war veteran or era veteran.
