The mission of these events is to reach out to Vietnam Veterans and bring them in to discuss Agent Orange and ways the Veterans Services can support these veterans.

The Vietnam Veterans Commemorative Trail is located in Price County and has 13 markers to represent the 13 years of service and sacrifice of the brothers and sisters in arms. The markers denote events of the war that were deemed important by Vietnam Veterans. The trail is a commemorative project to remind the public of the sacrifices made by this group of unheralded veterans.

To honor All Vietnam Veteran Members of VFW Post 6645, and to have the flag and certificate presented to the Post Commander.

these events will inform fellow Vietnam veterans and civilians that it will be 50 years since the start of Vietnam war and that multi events will be held to commemorate that date.

We will be handing out personalized thank you notes from our Chapter with the pin attached. We work closely with a number of Veterans organizations and will be personally thanking Vietnam Veterans for their service.

Welcome Home Vietnam Veterans

Though this event will be part of the Texas Historical Commission Cold War Oral History Workshop series, special emphasis will be placed on the Vietnam War. Workshop attendees will learn of the importance of oral histories--notably with Vietnam veterans --as well as how to conduct oral histories. A base historian will talk about the contributions of Sheppard AFB personnel to the Vietnam War effort. The entire event will be opened with a Vietnam commemoration flag ceremony. This event will: - Thank and honor veterans of the Vietnam War through the flag ceremony and historical presentation; - Highlight the service of the Armed Forces--particularly the US Air Force--during the Vietnam War through historical presentation; - Pay tribute to the contributions made on the home front at Wichita Falls, TX, by emphasizing this in oral histories; - Highlight the advances of technology, science, and medicine related to the war effort at Sheppard AFB; - Recognize allied contributions and sacrifices, e.g. by highlighting South Vietnam Air Force pilots who trained at Sheppard AFB.

1- To Thank and honor Veterans of the Vietnam War, for their service and sacrifices. 2- April 18, 2015-We will present the Patriot Guard Riders with a Community Service Award and honor all the Vietnam Veterans Present. 3-Summer 2015-Brat picnic give-way to Vietnam Veterans to acknowledge and honor their service.

16 May 2015-DAR meeting and Presentation of Vietnam Commemorative Certificates and Pins to our Chapter DAR Veterans/Family. Elementary School-Wounded Warrior 5K run. The students make Thank You cards and hand them out to Veterans. With materals we will be able to raise awareness of the 50th anniversary of the Vietnam War and recognize those that served.

Farmington has over 200 Vietnam veterans living in the community but there is no veterans organization for them to gather and meet. The veterans will be able to to do this when they attend the "Bring your own brown bag" lunches which will be held at the Farmington Town Hall from 11 am to 1 pm the second Wednesday of each month until December 2017. The main focus is to give the veterans a place where they can casually gather and share but a short program will be designed by sometimes inviting guest speakers. The local DAR chapter will present certificates to all Vietnam veterans who attend.

We plan on attending their meeting and honoring the Vietnam Veterans with the certificate and button or pin.

To make veterans and the public aware of the 50th Commemoration of the Vietnam war; handing out information on Vietnam veterans issues, agent orange issues, and health concerns for Vietnam veterans. Tabletop display is held at the VA Hospital the second and fourth Wednesdays of each month for 8 hours per day.

We will be doing a flag line on motorcycles around the track and the National Anthem. Afterwards we will be speaking about the 50th Anniversary and recognizing all Vietnam Vets and their families in the stands. We are going to invite all Vietnam Vets to stop by our Awareness booth to pick up a bumper sticker. We will also be handing out information. We will be accomplishing objectives 1 & 3 at this event.

Recoginze the Vietnam Veterans on Memorial Day, and also set up displays in the libraries, and historcial society building.

May 30, 2015: The Fixed Wing War The Fixed Wing War will cover air to air combat, close air support, bombing campaigns, suppression of enemy air defenses, search and rescue, aerial refueling, and special missions. A panel of Air Force and Navy Vietnam veterans, whose individual careers include anywhere from 117 to 300 combat missions, will discuss their experiences of air missions during the war. Other topics will include precision guided weapons, training, and aggressor programs. Christina Olds will give a presentation on her father, Brigadier General Robin Olds, USAF, Ret. who was a “triple ace” with a combined 16 victories in World War II and Vietnam. Christina will be focusing on his experiences as a pilot in Vietnam. There will be a Q&A session and book signing at the conclusion.

This traveling exhibit details the American prisoner of war experience from the Civil War to modern conflicts. It was created by the National Park Service in cooperation with the American Ex-Prisoners of War and the Friends of Andersonville, to give more citizens the opportunity to explore the American POW story. This is truly an appropriate exhibit for the Frontiers of Flight Museum. Since the advent of the use of aircraft as weapons of war, many American POWs have been aircrew members who crash-landed or bailed out behind enemy lines. There is an extensive educational value to this exhibit, especially for younger generations who may not have a good understanding about this facet of America’s armed conflicts. They also may not understand that in this context, the “prisoners” were not criminals, but American heroes who resisted their captors while upholding the U.S. Military Code of Conduct. The lighting in the exhibit is subdued to reflect the gloom of the POW camp environment and the prisoners’ existence. Toward the end of the exhibit, a highlighted “FREEDOM” graphic signals the way to the exit as additional graphics celebrate the POWs’ eventual repatriation. The exhibit includes sections on Capture, Prison Life, Those Who Wait, and Freedom, and displays artifacts and audio-visual interviews from actual prisoners of war which serves as a memorial to all American prisoners of war.

Can you add sending 1 set of posters (every one of them). This is for an exhibit he is doing in San Diego that will go till 2017, so I think based on what he’s doing, we can send 1 of everything. Opening ceremony of new permanent exhibit on the Vietnam Experience on the 50th Anniversary of the Vietnam War. Exhibits, displays, timelines, oral histories, and personal stories tell the experiences of San Diegans in the Vietnam War on 4/30/2015. Exhibit opens to public on May 1st, 2015.

VFW POST 1487, GOLD TRAIL DAUGHTERS OF THE AMERICAN REVOLUTION AND NSDAR SACRAMENTO CHAPTER ARE HOSTING THE MOVABLE VIETNAM VETERANS MEMORIAL IN ROYER PARK. VETERANS AND FAMILIES ARE INVITED TO ATTEND. VISITOR GUIDES WILL PRESENT PINS AND STICKERS TO VIETNAM VETERANS AND THEIR FAMILIES.

Will distribute pins to members for further distribution in their hometowns at commisaries, PXs, VA and military hospitals

This summer in recognition of the 50th anniversary of US involvement in Vietnam, the First Division Museum will present the exhibit, Five Years in the Jungle: Vietnam Experiences of the 1st Infantry Division 1965-1970. The exhibit will include an array of artifacts collected by 1ID units and individuals during service in Vietnam. A significant portion of those objects will be on display in a representation of the division’s in-country museum where visitors will experience how soldiers would learn about the threats they would face in Vietnam. In 1967, the 3rd Brigade created a museum as part of the Combat Introduction Course to help familiarize new soldiers with the weapons, uniforms, equipment, and methods of the NVA and VC. Division HQ took this model and created a museum that served the same purpose for all soldiers who joined the 1st ID. The museum recreation will even include several pieces from the original in-country museums. Another exciting component of the exhibit will be a floor map of the division’s AO. The illustrated map will colorfully depict III Corps Tactical Zone highlighting 1ID areas of operation and will include an inset of both North and South Vietnam for context. Visitors will be able to walk on the map to get a close up look at locations. Surrounding the map will be artifact clusters that tie to specific battles, individuals, locations and unique stories highlighting the entire five year period of the 1st ID’s deployment. Through these artifacts, including significant amounts of captured material, the story of soldiers engaging a skilled and determined enemy will come into focus. In addition, there will be a timeline highlighting important events during the Vietnam War, photo enlargements that portray the different environments found throughout III Corps and a music interactive that will allow visitors to listen to music and create their own playlists. Visitors should leave the exhibit with a better understanding of the experiences of 1st Division soldiers during the Vietnam War and a better understanding of those difficult years.

We are commemorating the 50th Anniversary of the Vietnam war by telling those Veterans....Welcome Home!! We are also recognizing all Veterans by saying Thank You! All proceeds will go to the Wounded Warrior Project.

The New York National Guard's Military History Museum partners with Skidmore College to open a new exhibit May 1 honoring the service of the Capital Region's Vietnam Veterans. Students from the Skidmore College History course, "The Vietnam War in American Memory," taught by Professor David Kieran, gathered the oral histories of 11 Vietnam era-veterans from Saratoga Springs. A joint effort between the students and the NYS Military Museum and Veterans Research Center will be featured in a new public exhibit through November 2015 as part of Department Skidmore students learning about the Vietnam War in Professor Kieran's course sought out 11 area veterans and completed individual oral history assignments to learn more about Vietnam Veterans' diverse experiences. Through collaboration with Courtney Burns, Military History Director and curator of the NYS Military museum, a collection of the students' work, including veteran artifacts from Vietnam and materials that document their experiences, will be exhibited at the museum. The nation marked the start of the 50th Anniversary of the Vietnam War in 2012 and New York State, the New York National Guard, the City of Saratoga Springs and the Military Museum are all Commemorative Partners with the Department of Defense to honor the service of Vietnam Veterans and their families. Events hosted at the museum are intended to thank and honor veterans of the Vietnam War for their service and sacrifice on behalf of the United States and to thank and honor the families of these veterans. The exhibit featuring the Vietnam Veterans experience and their oral histories will be on display at the museum through Veterans Day 2015.

Quilt making for Vietnam vets in the community including the name and date of service on each one. Then, invited the veteran to a luncheon to present to them with a certificate. This is ongoing.

Event Dedicated to 50th Anniv. of Vietnam War. Vintage helicopter rides and displays of Vietnam War era memorabilia. NAVHPA will display our Vietnam veteran, hands on, living history UH-1C Huey Gunship along with Vietnam veteran docents to relate personal experiences of the Vietnam air war.

To honor the Vietnam War Veterans who currently reside in Cheyenne County with a DAR Certificate recognizing their valor, service, and sacrifice, the Presidential Proclamation, brochures, pins, and other items.

To display the Commemorative Flag and materials at the Horizon Book Store as a way to thank and honor our Vietnam Veterans.

Resource Fair that included pinning Vietnam veterans.

24 Square Feet of window was decorated using brochures, fact sheets, maps, books, patriotic decorations, signage thanking our Vietnam Veteran's for their service. The display stood for 45 days.

Each week a different Vietnam veteran will be profiled in full-page newspaper features. The profiles are published online at www.trib.com/honor with additional photos, audio and other assets. in 2017, a hardcover book of all the profiles will be published. A book signing event will be hosted and each veteran featured will be gifted a copy of the book by our sponsors and fellow commemorative committee members.

To increase awareness of and support for Vietnam War Veterans and raise funds for wounded veterans' medical care in relation to combat/service injuries. A Vietnam combat Veteran is walking over 600 miles to raise money for wounded veterans. He makes several rally stops along his walk. Our Benjamin Mills Chapter has a driver who escorts/follows him and provides cool liquids, medical care, food and support during his long walk. Our chapter has presented him with tokens of Vietnam Service Recognition at most rally stops, too. We are planning to present something to him at the final reception in honor of his Vietnam service, for carrying our US Flag the entire time, and for helping wounded veterans. The ceremony and reception will be held in Decatur, IL. Several other Vietnam War veterans will be in attendance along with other veterans.

Vietnam Veterans Display of Branchs with Vietnam Veterans, and Veterans invited to share there legacy via the display cases. DOD 50th Commemortive flag was display along with other engagement flags! DOD pins of all varieties were avaialbe with a sign in book. It originally was to be up just for Memorial Day but response was so well recieved kept thru July 4th!

Presented a DAR Vietnam veteran certificate to: 1. Edenton Tea Party Chapter member who served in the Vietnam era and 2. 2nd class Petty Officer Denzil Duane Cooper in the U.S. Navy.

Display packet was used to make a display at the Millbrook Library and was up for 6 weeks. The Director said it was enjoyed by all and many veterans came to see and talk about it.

Display at the Valley County Historical Museum and mementos were passed out.

The West Texas Collection display included a panel discussion and reception. The display ran from November 17, 2014 through July 31, 2015.

The purpose of the event is too honor the many Vietnam Veterans who fought & supported the fight from Grundy County, Missouri. Vietnam Veterans have donated &/or loaned memorabilia now on display for the public to view. Several veterans have volunteered to be museum docents to answer questions from the public about the war effort and their part in it. The museum's Vietnam exhibit hosts 21 panels documenting veteran reflections about the war and how they feel about having fought there today. The museum also has an audio copy of the Tet Offensive as it happened because a soldier was taping a letter home and forgot to turn off the recorder when the call to battle occurred.

Chapter daughters prepared a display at the Heard County Museum featuring local Heard County Veterans' pictures and service information, the Commission Flag, 50th Anniversary information and a big note of Appreciation for all. The display was to be up from April thru September. Notices of the display and invitations to the public to visit were printed in the local newspaper.

Lt. Colonel Jerry Ericsson (Ret) spoke at Star of Destiny, NSDAR to relay his experiences as a decorated helicopter pilot in Vietnam and how the war forged the future of his life. As a tribute to him, Star of Destiny has purchased an engraved brick in Lt. Col. Ericsson's name and it has been placed in the Vietnam section of the Veteran's War Memorial, Plaza of Liberty in McAllen, Texas

Our chapter had an exhibit of Vietnam War memorabilia on display at the Putnam Museum. Some items on display were the 50th Commemoration Flag, pictures, uniforms, medals, KIA within a 50-mile radius, Iowa MIA/POWs, and items used by the military in Vietnam.

Our DAR chapter's Historic Preservation is collecting questionnaires regarding Vietnam Veterans experiences. This is an ongoing project and will conclude in March 2016. These questionnaires will be converted into a narrative form and compiled for the Katy Library.

The Lapeer County Committee members proposed to the county newspaper that they run an interview of a Vietnam Veteran once a month for the three years of the National Commemoration. The Lapeer County Press agreed and has run full page up to 1 1/4 pages of individual interviews of Lapeer County Vietnam Veterans. The articles have been very educational and have given a very real picture of the war from our heroes eyes. This publication covers more than Lapeer County. Public publication 2015-2018 Anticipated attendance is a guess as I don't know the county distribution hard copy and internet.

To draw attention to the service of the Vietnam Veterams and their families. To honor them in the community.

The chapter compiled the Illinois Vietnam War Era Honor Roster Volume II to honor these veterans. This book lists Illinois Vietnam veterans and include name, rank, branch of service, service years, and identifies if they veteran was a war veteran or era veteran.

For all Memorial Day (2013 forward) and Veterans Day (2012 forward) the Vietnam War Commemorative flag is formally presented by Vietnam War veterans. The script then tells about the program, facts of the Vietnam War and our partnership with the program and the importance of honoring our Vietnam War veterans. All Vietnam War veterans were asked to stand, honored and Welcomed Home.
