The Vietnam Veterans Commemorative Trail is located in Price County and has 13 markers to represent the 13 years of service and sacrifice of the brothers and sisters in arms. The markers denote events of the war that were deemed important by Vietnam Veterans. The trail is a commemorative project to remind the public of the sacrifices made by this group of unheralded veterans.

these events will inform fellow Vietnam veterans and civilians that it will be 50 years since the start of Vietnam war and that multi events will be held to commemorate that date.

Welcome Home Vietnam Veterans

1- To Thank and honor Veterans of the Vietnam War, for their service and sacrifices. 2- April 18, 2015-We will present the Patriot Guard Riders with a Community Service Award and honor all the Vietnam Veterans Present. 3-Summer 2015-Brat picnic give-way to Vietnam Veterans to acknowledge and honor their service.

Our chapter will do a float to honor our local Vietnam Veterans. Local Veteran's will ride on the float.

The purpose of this event is to honor Vietnam War Veterans (both alive and deceased) and their families. This will meet the requirement for the Commemoration Objective Number One. Our chapter plans to display a "Vietnam War Anniversary Exhibit" in the public library (El Progreso Memorial Library) in Uvalde, Texas. This exhibit will be on a rotating basis to include the towns of Del Rio, Brackettville, Pearsall, Camp Wood, and Sabinal. Our chapter serves these communities.

Farmington has over 200 Vietnam veterans living in the community but there is no veterans organization for them to gather and meet. The veterans will be able to to do this when they attend the "Bring your own brown bag" lunches which will be held at the Farmington Town Hall from 11 am to 1 pm the second Wednesday of each month until December 2017. The main focus is to give the veterans a place where they can casually gather and share but a short program will be designed by sometimes inviting guest speakers. The local DAR chapter will present certificates to all Vietnam veterans who attend.

To make veterans and the public aware of the 50th Commemoration of the Vietnam war; handing out information on Vietnam veterans issues, agent orange issues, and health concerns for Vietnam veterans. Tabletop display is held at the VA Hospital the second and fourth Wednesdays of each month for 8 hours per day.

We have contacted local Retirement Homes and the local VA to come to their site and have a program to honor Vietnam Veterans and their families. We feel this is truly reaching out into the community to honor those Vietnam Veterans who are unable to attend events.

This year's annual event will be dedicated at its opening ceremony, to our community's Vietnam Veterans and their families to include those who lost loved ones during the war and those families still awaiting the fullest possible accounting of their loved one. The dedication will thank and honor veterans for their service and sacrifice on behalf of the United States and our community. Our city mayor will read the Presidential Proclamation and Gold Star families from our community will be recognized on the program. We plan a color guard and honor guard for the opening and a military themed musical ensemble to participate in the variety portion of the event. Our DAR will support a booth, offering greetings, thanks, and commemorative pins/stickers. Finally, the event will culminate in a fireworks display.

Can you add sending 1 set of posters (every one of them). This is for an exhibit he is doing in San Diego that will go till 2017, so I think based on what he’s doing, we can send 1 of everything. Opening ceremony of new permanent exhibit on the Vietnam Experience on the 50th Anniversary of the Vietnam War. Exhibits, displays, timelines, oral histories, and personal stories tell the experiences of San Diegans in the Vietnam War on 4/30/2015. Exhibit opens to public on May 1st, 2015.

Vietnam Veterans and their immediate family will be given complimentary Lower-Level Box Seats to the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes (Affiliate of the San Francisco Giants) game vs. The Tri-City Dust Devils (Affiliate of the San Diego Padres), and the Vietnam Veterans will be Thanked, Honored & Saluted, on the field, in a very formal Ceremony.

Honoring Vietnam veterans.

It is a celebration of our countries Independence form Foreign control. Men and women fought our first battle for freedom, one that our military continues to fight even now. We like to remind all the attendees that freedom and our military are the reason the day is celebrated...not fireworks (but they are nice too).

This summer in recognition of the 50th anniversary of US involvement in Vietnam, the First Division Museum will present the exhibit, Five Years in the Jungle: Vietnam Experiences of the 1st Infantry Division 1965-1970. The exhibit will include an array of artifacts collected by 1ID units and individuals during service in Vietnam. A significant portion of those objects will be on display in a representation of the division’s in-country museum where visitors will experience how soldiers would learn about the threats they would face in Vietnam. In 1967, the 3rd Brigade created a museum as part of the Combat Introduction Course to help familiarize new soldiers with the weapons, uniforms, equipment, and methods of the NVA and VC. Division HQ took this model and created a museum that served the same purpose for all soldiers who joined the 1st ID. The museum recreation will even include several pieces from the original in-country museums. Another exciting component of the exhibit will be a floor map of the division’s AO. The illustrated map will colorfully depict III Corps Tactical Zone highlighting 1ID areas of operation and will include an inset of both North and South Vietnam for context. Visitors will be able to walk on the map to get a close up look at locations. Surrounding the map will be artifact clusters that tie to specific battles, individuals, locations and unique stories highlighting the entire five year period of the 1st ID’s deployment. Through these artifacts, including significant amounts of captured material, the story of soldiers engaging a skilled and determined enemy will come into focus. In addition, there will be a timeline highlighting important events during the Vietnam War, photo enlargements that portray the different environments found throughout III Corps and a music interactive that will allow visitors to listen to music and create their own playlists. Visitors should leave the exhibit with a better understanding of the experiences of 1st Division soldiers during the Vietnam War and a better understanding of those difficult years.

Objective #1, Bring all veterans and community members from the Texas Panhandle together for purpose of commemorating Independence Day. Objective #2 Educate the public concerning the Vietnam War. Objective #3 Honor our veterans. Objective #4 To remember those who served. Objective #5 We plan to hold a number of smaller awareness events leading up to the Fourth of July project.

The New York National Guard's Military History Museum partners with Skidmore College to open a new exhibit May 1 honoring the service of the Capital Region's Vietnam Veterans. Students from the Skidmore College History course, "The Vietnam War in American Memory," taught by Professor David Kieran, gathered the oral histories of 11 Vietnam era-veterans from Saratoga Springs. A joint effort between the students and the NYS Military Museum and Veterans Research Center will be featured in a new public exhibit through November 2015 as part of Department Skidmore students learning about the Vietnam War in Professor Kieran's course sought out 11 area veterans and completed individual oral history assignments to learn more about Vietnam Veterans' diverse experiences. Through collaboration with Courtney Burns, Military History Director and curator of the NYS Military museum, a collection of the students' work, including veteran artifacts from Vietnam and materials that document their experiences, will be exhibited at the museum. The nation marked the start of the 50th Anniversary of the Vietnam War in 2012 and New York State, the New York National Guard, the City of Saratoga Springs and the Military Museum are all Commemorative Partners with the Department of Defense to honor the service of Vietnam Veterans and their families. Events hosted at the museum are intended to thank and honor veterans of the Vietnam War for their service and sacrifice on behalf of the United States and to thank and honor the families of these veterans. The exhibit featuring the Vietnam Veterans experience and their oral histories will be on display at the museum through Veterans Day 2015.

Terrell County asked us to have a presentation to the Vietnam vets of certificates of thanks for their service to our country. Terrell County is putting us front and center on the court house lawn next to the War Memorial they have.

Quilt making for Vietnam vets in the community including the name and date of service on each one. Then, invited the veteran to a luncheon to present to them with a certificate. This is ongoing.

Commemoration of Vietnam Veterans

El Dorado Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution wish to thank and honor our veterans with an ice cream social.

David Hill Chapter DAR will honor a special Vietnam Veteran selected by the local VFW. The Veteran will ride on the DAR's 4th of July Parade float. His bio will be read by the announcer as the float goes through downtown. There will be identifying signs posted on the sides of the float. The Vietnam 50th Commemoration flag will be on the float. DAR members will hand out Commemorative brochures if we have them.

NANCY GARY CHAPTER WILL PRESENT A CERTIFICATE TO EACH VIETNAM VETERAN AT THE NORFOLK VETERANS HOME HONOR THEM WITH THE CERTIFICATE AND PINS AND HAVE HOME MADE PIES FOR THEM THEY LOVE THE HOME MADE GOODIE

Main purpose of this event is to thank and honor veterans of the Vietnam War; and to pay tribute to contributions made on the home front by people of the United States.

At our annual July 4th Event, and over 14 days, we will host public ceremonies, to present the lapel pins and certificates from Gov. Deal of GA to all identified Vietnam Era/ Vietnam War Veterans. All ceremonies will be held at our Walk of Heroes Stage Area.

Our Chapter will be carrying the Commemorative Flag in the parade - Central Iowa's largest 4th of July parade. They do not allow anything to be handed out during the parade so no materials are needed.

50th year anniversary of Vietnam War. VTMW will be on display 24/7 for those who cannot go to DC. Will read name of 1609 NC warriors on wall daily. Opening ceremonies each day will have Vietnam vet speakers. Would like to get commemorative flag so skydiver can jump with it attached to his leg

We will have a float from the Legion and the Ladies Auxiliary which after the color guard is the beginning of the parade. Our plan if we receive our flag in time, is to have the whole back of the float covered in black floral paper, make the flag the center of our attraction with 12" letters simply stating "Thank you" all Vietnam Veterans are invited to ride on this float. This is proclaimed to be the biggest small town parade and every year it grows.

This event will follow the 4th of July Parade in Findlay. It is being sponsored by the local Verteran's Associations. The DAR is participating in the event by honoring the Vietnam Veterans and their family members by giving them pins and bumper stickers. There will be speakers and honors given to Vietnam Veterans by the local Veterans Associations. Family members will be honored for their sacrifices as well.

The memorial Flag will be flown in honor of our Vietnam Veterans and their families in appreciation for all the sacrifices made for our freedom. There will also be a half page article containing a copy of the flag, in The Star Herald Newspaper, our local county wide publication, prior to this event in their honor.

To honor all veterans, specifically those from the Vietnam War, as well as the families of those who were killed in service during the conflict.

To honor the Vietnam War Veterans who currently reside in Cheyenne County with a DAR Certificate recognizing their valor, service, and sacrifice, the Presidential Proclamation, brochures, pins, and other items.

During our annual July 4th Celebration, Fort Leavenworth will have two Vietnam veterans bring in and post the commemorative flag and the National colors. We will then recognize, thank and honor all Vietnam veterans and their families who are in attendance. After honors are given, we will do our Salute to the Union. We would like to have pins for the veterans in attendance and have stickers for those in attendance who would like them in order to further spread the message.

These item will be made available to all Veterans that come into our offices.

Recognize and honor Vietnam Veterans during the 2015 Tacoma Freedom Fair.

To recognize and applaud those local Vietnam veterans in our midst.

We have started fundraisers for the dinner that we will be having to honor Vietnam Veterans and their families. Certificates will be handed out to each veteran there or to the family representing the veteran. Our first fundraiser is a Brown Bag it for Veterans (bean soup, cornbread, dessert and drink). We are trying to get the community involved. We will also be handing items out at the Catfish Festival supporting the veterans from Vietnam War.

DAR ladies will carry the flag in the parade with Vietnam Veterans following.

Each week a different Vietnam veteran will be profiled in full-page newspaper features. The profiles are published online at www.trib.com/honor with additional photos, audio and other assets. in 2017, a hardcover book of all the profiles will be published. A book signing event will be hosted and each veteran featured will be gifted a copy of the book by our sponsors and fellow commemorative committee members.

To increase awareness of and support for Vietnam War Veterans and raise funds for wounded veterans' medical care in relation to combat/service injuries. A Vietnam combat Veteran is walking over 600 miles to raise money for wounded veterans. He makes several rally stops along his walk. Our Benjamin Mills Chapter has a driver who escorts/follows him and provides cool liquids, medical care, food and support during his long walk. Our chapter has presented him with tokens of Vietnam Service Recognition at most rally stops, too. We are planning to present something to him at the final reception in honor of his Vietnam service, for carrying our US Flag the entire time, and for helping wounded veterans. The ceremony and reception will be held in Decatur, IL. Several other Vietnam War veterans will be in attendance along with other veterans.

Announcement will be made by senior members of the installation. Materials will be provided to Vietnam Veterans in attendance.

We have had our parade and the response is overwhelming on our Facebook page of Vietnam Vets wanting the Commemorative items, we have enough of everything but the Veterans pins so we would like to request a few more of those.

DOD pins of all varieties were avaialbe with a sign in book. It originally was to be up just for Memorial Day but response was so well recieved kept thru July 4th!

Haleakala Chapter rode in a fabulous 1945 Command Car flying our 50th Anniversary Vietnam War Commemorative Flag with pride.We have wonderful photographs. The owner/driver of the command car is a Vietnam Veteran and was moved at the sight of our partner flag

In coordination with VVA Chapter 295, Vietnam veterans rode in a truck and walked. They were also given pins.

The purpose of the event is too honor the many Vietnam Veterans who fought & supported the fight from Grundy County, Missouri. Vietnam Veterans have donated &/or loaned memorabilia now on display for the public to view. Several veterans have volunteered to be museum docents to answer questions from the public about the war effort and their part in it. The museum's Vietnam exhibit hosts 21 panels documenting veteran reflections about the war and how they feel about having fought there today. The museum also has an audio copy of the Tet Offensive as it happened because a soldier was taping a letter home and forgot to turn off the recorder when the call to battle occurred.

To honor Vietnam Veterans with a float in the 4th of July Parade.

Chapter daughters prepared a display at the Heard County Museum featuring local Heard County Veterans' pictures and service information, the Commission Flag, 50th Anniversary information and a big note of Appreciation for all. The display was to be up from April thru September. Notices of the display and invitations to the public to visit were printed in the local newspaper.

Lt. Colonel Jerry Ericsson (Ret) spoke at Star of Destiny, NSDAR to relay his experiences as a decorated helicopter pilot in Vietnam and how the war forged the future of his life. As a tribute to him, Star of Destiny has purchased an engraved brick in Lt. Col. Ericsson's name and it has been placed in the Vietnam section of the Veteran's War Memorial, Plaza of Liberty in McAllen, Texas

To honor those Vietnam veterans that served from our local area. They were invited to ride on our DAR float and were presented with stickers and pins commemorating the event.

Vietnam Veterans were recognized with a special certificate from the National Society DAR.

Parade with hundreds of floats and spectators. The Bosque River Valley DAR Chapter float was in this parade. A Vietnam War veterans and husband of one of our chapter members, provides and drives the jeep that pulls the float, in every parade that we use our float. Another Vietnam War veteran and husband of another one of our chapter members, followed the float with his blue Harley and carried the Vietnam War commemorative flag.

Our chapter had an exhibit of Vietnam War memorabilia on display at the Putnam Museum. Some items on display were the 50th Commemoration Flag, pictures, uniforms, medals, KIA within a 50-mile radius, Iowa MIA/POWs, and items used by the military in Vietnam.

Our DAR chapter's Historic Preservation is collecting questionnaires regarding Vietnam Veterans experiences. This is an ongoing project and will conclude in March 2016. These questionnaires will be converted into a narrative form and compiled for the Katy Library.

The Lapeer County Committee members proposed to the county newspaper that they run an interview of a Vietnam Veteran once a month for the three years of the National Commemoration. The Lapeer County Press agreed and has run full page up to 1 1/4 pages of individual interviews of Lapeer County Vietnam Veterans. The articles have been very educational and have given a very real picture of the war from our heroes eyes. This publication covers more than Lapeer County. Public publication 2015-2018 Anticipated attendance is a guess as I don't know the county distribution hard copy and internet.

Our chapter honored Vietnam veteran Chuck Slade by riding in a Corvette sponsored by our chapter in the 4th of July parade. Banner were on the car with his name and branch of service. He received standing ovations all along the parade route. It was a very moving experience.

To draw attention to the service of the Vietnam Veterams and their families. To honor them in the community.

The chapter compiled the Illinois Vietnam War Era Honor Roster Volume II to honor these veterans. This book lists Illinois Vietnam veterans and include name, rank, branch of service, service years, and identifies if they veteran was a war veteran or era veteran.
