12:00 AM - 12:00 AM
This started out as a special-themed event at the Country Club in the gated community where we live (Carolina Trace). They do this routinely, with various thematic dinners, but this is the first which has been focused on the military...Retired, Active, and Families. When we saw the announcement this morning, we called the club to see if they would have any interest in expanding this to make it a 50th Anniversary Event. We offered to do all the work, and explained the program and purpose to them. They were absolutely ecstatic and leaped at the opportunity. They had already opened invitation to include non-club member residents of Carolina Trace (which is not done often), but with the expanded plan, are now putting out a press release to the local paper, extending the opportunity to any veteran in the area. There is a huge military presence here in Lee County, as we are only about 20 miles from Fort Bragg. The nominal host for the Commemoration will be the Sandhills Chapter of the North Carolina Council of Chapters (NCCOC) of the Military Officers Association of America. The NCCOC is a Program Partner, and the Sandhills Chapter, as an affiliate of the Council, is also a Partner.
While we don't really know how many honorees we will get, we are optimistic that this could wind up being a truly spectacular event.
I know this is terrible short notice but it's all we had. If we don't get the support materials, we will still go ahead and do the best that we can. It will be great no matter what.
See attached After Action Report summarizing the successful event. The evening was deemed by all in attendance to have been an overwhelming success.
