As a Commemorative Partner, the Center for Women Veterans celebrated the Vietnam-Era Veterans. On February 29, 2016, the Acting Director spoke at the 3rd Annual Female Veterans and Active Duty Warriors Summit (sponsored by the South Atlantic Center for Veterans Education - SACVET), in Columbus, Georgia.
The program was intended to develop innovative ways to seek out and inform female Veterans about benefits and services that are available from federal, state, and local organizations. To fulfill the objectives, Dr. Moseley Brown's presentation focused on the state of women Veterans, activities, the Secretary's priorities, benefits and services, current Federal initiatives addressing women Veterans, and issues impacting their families.
There were approximately 500 Veterans and active duty, Reserves and Guard and Veteran advocates in attendance. There was no visible media coverage. The event was an overwhelming success; however, the 100 plus exhibitors were on a different level than where the presentations were provided. The Ft. Benning Infantry Museum is a wonderful and meaningful venue.
