The Vietnam Veterans Commemorative Trail is located in Price County and has 13 markers to represent the 13 years of service and sacrifice of the brothers and sisters in arms. The markers denote events of the war that were deemed important by Vietnam Veterans. The trail is a commemorative project to remind the public of the sacrifices made by this group of unheralded veterans.

Farmington has over 200 Vietnam veterans living in the community but there is no veterans organization for them to gather and meet. The veterans will be able to to do this when they attend the "Bring your own brown bag" lunches which will be held at the Farmington Town Hall from 11 am to 1 pm the second Wednesday of each month until December 2017. The main focus is to give the veterans a place where they can casually gather and share but a short program will be designed by sometimes inviting guest speakers. The local DAR chapter will present certificates to all Vietnam veterans who attend.

The purpose of our event is to honor all military men and women who served during the Vietnam era. We sponsored a breakfast starting at 8:30-10:30 on April 9th at Bethel Baptist Church, Galesburg, IL. This event was advertised on posters in the veteran facilities, in a few churches, and on local radio, WGIL, The Laser and the Galesburg Register Mail. We had local HyVee Store cater the food. and the church donated coffee. Local Vietnam vet took pictures of the event. Local Boy Scouts Troop 316 presented Colors and the Bethel pastor blessed the food. The local VFW donated supplies for a Vietnam table including a banner and items from a POW/MIA. Decorations were made by Rebecca Parke members and the church children. Each veteran received a gift bag that contained lapel pin, restaurant coupons, and a NSDAR certificate. After dinner the regent read the Presidential Proclamation and a statement made by Gary Sinise on taking care of the veterans. Vets were in open room tables to tell each of their stories and meet new friends.

A special Vietnam War Commemorative Quilt has been produced and will be on display from May of 2016 through October 2017. At the dedication of the quilt, members of the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign War will take part in the dedication as well as witness the dedication. Custer is a tourist destination in South Dakota and the museum is heavily visited so the display will be seen by 1000 minimum people.

To thank and honor veterans of the Vietnam War, including personnel who were held as prisoners of war or listed as missing in action, for their service and sacrifice on behalf of the United States and to thank and honor the families of these veterans. Nutrition and Food Services provided steak and lobster dinners to all residents of the Community Living Centers, Domiciliary, Veterans Recovery Center, Adult Day Health Care program, mobile van Adult Day Mobile Health Care and those served in the dining hall facility. Over 175 Commemorative meals were provided to Veterans. Events were held successfully on March 29 at the Canandaigua VAMC and Monroe Community Hospital with approximately 425 people in total attendance. 60 individuals attended the Canandaigua VAMC event and 365 attended the Rochester event. Canandaigua VAMC: Norbert Rappl , Major General; Michael Swartz, Interim Medical Center Director and facility leadership thanked approximately 35 Vietnam Veterans and provided them a commemorative pin. The following services and organizations coordinated the event. Chaplain Services; Voluntary Services; Public Affairs; American Legion Post 34 provided cake; Jack Jacobson, Bag piper. Monroe Community Hospital: The event was organized with community partners to include: Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 20, Patriot Guard Riders, Monroe County Veterans Service Agency, Monroe Community Hospital, Rochester Vet Center, Chaplain and Voluntary Services, Public Affairs, and WROC-Channel 8 news anchor. Medical of Honor recipient, Gary Beikirch; Monroe County Executive, Cheryl Dinolfo; Medical Center Interim ,Director Michael Swartz; thanked approximately 200 Vietnam Veterans and provided them commemorative pins and certificates. Vietnam Veterans, family and community that attended were provided a buffet of appetizers and refreshments prior to the event and desserts and refreshments following the event to enjoy fellowship. We are a nonprofit hospice organization, we service over 5000 patients per year. We honor all of our veterans through our American Pride Program. We pin all patients who are Veterans. In the past year we have had a increase in care for Vietnam Veterans. The 500 pins would allow us to pin our employees and go back and pin the families of the Vietnam Veteran who have pasted and then to pin though who we presently care for and future Vietnam Veteran hospice patients.

We will be holding our event here in Grayling, MI on POW/MIA flag day 16th of September 2016. We will be having an event with vendors, shuttle rides for vets etc to the movie theater in town. We plan to talk of the importance of the pow flag and families. We also plan to have several Veteran speakers. Then we will ask all Veitnam Veterans to line up, and walk across the stage where we will shake their hands, present them with their pin etc. We also plan to continue to welcome them home each and every time we have a Veitnam Veteran in the office. We want to be able to do the same whether they are able to attend the event or not. Complete program, celebrating the era. Walking in we printed all posters from partner portal for the veterans to look at. Michigan National Guard, had 3 volunteers in dress blues to usher people to their seats. We did have a local newspaper in attendance. As they were seated music/military videos of the era were playing on the big screen. Complete program agenda attached. All attendees were very pleased. Response from 3 of the 5 local veterans lost in the war. Did have videos to play between speakers. After Action Review: - Not enough time to look at posters of info before ushers put them in seats. - Request RSVP from the very beginning for vets in attendance - Prior rehearsal, even though it could not have ran better - Prior instruction to speakers pertaining to mic and audio equipment - Better coordination of volunteers to set up/tear down event

The Milwaukee VA Regional Office has completed 2 commemorative events and submitted AAR's. These events depleted the commemoration supplies of the Milwaukee VARO. The publicity and word of mouth from the initial events has led to Vietnam Veterans visiting our facility and requesting materials (pins, presidential proclamations, bumper stickers etc.) Additionally, we conduct Out based outreach to Veterans on a recurring basis. Veterans request materials (pins, presidential proclamations, bumper stickers etc.) from our public contact outreach specialists during these events. Our stock of materials is greatly depleted and we are zeroed out of some of the materials. We request the materials indicated on this submission form to continue to meet the demand of our Wisconsin Vietnam Veteran community.

Our DAR Chapter is going to have a program we call "Commemoration on the Move". We will be obtaining names of Vietnam era Veterans in our community from our chapter membership. We will travel to these individuals homes to present them with certificates and other commemoration memorabilia. We will talk briefly with the veteran and family present about the purpose of the commemoration and officially welcome them home. This event was different in that it was not one big event. We located Vietnam veteran through our chapter's members. We traveled through our city visiting these veterans in their homes, or at a pre-determined location to thank them, present lapel pins and DAR certificates, a special letter from our Chapter Regent and other Commemorative information and materials. A short speech was made on the history of the 50th commemorative effort. This gave us the opportunity to visit veterans individually or in small groups, hear their stories and truly thank them. One of our chapter members reached out to about 30 of her former classmates who lived out of our local area. Many had not heard from her in years. They had marvelous conversations, each veteran truly expressing their gratitude that she had found them and told them about the Commemoration. Packages including all of the items listed below along with a special letter written by the Regent were mailed to each of them. Whether local or not, the gratitude expressed by all the veterans was overwhelming. Many said this is the first time anyone ever recognized them. Someone said the war was so long ago they don't think about it much anymore. Many thank you notes and letters were received. In times where various factors make it difficult to have a single large event, this method of reaching veterans truly worked and we would recommend it to other Commemorative Partners.

The Colorado Chapter National Society Daughters of the American Revolution has been honoring veterans of the Vietnam War by awarding a lapel pin and certificate of appreciation. HCI Hospice Care Services is an official partner in the Department of Veteran Affairs' national "We Honor Veterans" programs. While the veteran is on our services we honor those that have served our country through special ceremonies,commemorative pins, certificates and recognition by local media as desired. We would like to be able to give patients that are specifically Vietnam Veterans an additional and very special recognition during this same ceremony with the lapel pin and certificate. There is no set date for the events as they are ongoing according to the patient admission into our hospice services as well as the patient desire to have a ceremony. If the ceremony is not able to be held prior to death, there have been occasions that the family as asked for the recognition to be held at the funeral. The ceremony involves the Pledge of Allegiance, special readings and music specific to branch of service, framed certificate and a lapel pin. We would like to give additional recognition to our veterans that are Vietnam Veterans. All supplies will be divided up amongst our 8 hospice teams that cover 41 counties in the state of Iowa.

To continue the ongoing 50th anniversary commemoration of the Vietnam War, we will recognize Vietnam Veterans Day on March 29 along with our nation and honor the service of Vietnam veterans and remember those who died in service to their country. The date marks the 44th anniversary of the day troops left Vietnam (March 29, 1973). All Vietnam Veterans will be offered free admission to Patriots Point Naval & Maritime Museum on that day, which includes an exhibit focused on our country's involvement in the Vietnam War, the 2.5-acre Vietnam Experience. Vietnam-era veterans will be honored in two solemn ceremonies on March 29. The first will take place at the Vietnam Memorial outside Kanley Chapel on Western Michigan University’s campus at 5:00pm. Free parking is available in Lot 41 on WMU’s campus. The second ceremony will be held at 6:00pm at the Bronson Park Vietnam Monument. Free parking is available on the street for the 6:00 ceremony. The Honorable Senator Margaret O’Brien will join Natalia Johnston in laying a wreath at both sites. Ms Johnston is the President-elect of the Michigan Society Children of the American Revolution. Senator O’Brien represents the 20th Senate District, which includes all of Kalamazoo County. It On March 29, 1973, the last combat troops were withdrawn from Vietnam and the last prisoners of war held in North Vietnam arrived on American soil. Puerto Rico and 42 States have recognized this date as “Vietnam Veterans’ Day” by resolution or legislation. Michigan is not among those 42 States. Senator O’Brien serves as Chairwoman of the Senate Veterans, Military Affairs and Homeland Security Committee. It is anticipated that the State Senate will adopt a Resolution recognizing March 29 as Vietnam Veterans’ Day in Michigan. All Vietnam-era veterans in attendance will be individually recognized and receive a special commemorative pin issued by the Department of Defense. The Vietnam era spans November 1, 1955 to May 15, 1975. Veterans will be recognized regardless of where they served. Both events are free and open to the general public

Event was a tremendous success. The sacrifice and dedication to duty was explained to the audience utilizing statistics and examples. The families sacrifice and challenges were provided and honored. Vietnam Veterans, their families and the community at large all coming together to listen and learn about the Vietnam experience achieved our goal of relive,share and understand. In attendance were Vietnam Veterans, friends, families and the general public at large. The museum provides ad hoc on call for every Vietnam Veteran visitor identified at the information desk when they sign into the museum. These ceremonies honor all Vietnam Veterans and the families present. They are for one veteran to as many as 20/30 from visitors. museum attendance 1Jan17 through 28Mar17 was 20,588. the above reported numbers do not include our special coordinated ceremonies reported on their own AARs.

City manager read a proclamation establishing Vietnam Veterans Day with Color Guard from local high school, soloist performing the National Anthem, presentation of 37 lapel pins, and a wreath laying ceremony in honor all veterans with special mention of the Vietnam veterans and those still POW/MIA. This was the third simultaneous commemoration ceremony in the Roanoke Valley. City of Roanoke and Town of Vinton (including County of Roanoke) each had an event at high noon on 29 MAR 2017.

The Mayor of the City of Roanoke presided over the ceremony which included posting of Colors by local high school JROTC, soloist offering National Anthem, reading of the City of Roanoke Proclamation on Vietnam Veterans Day, presentation of the lapel pin to seven deserving recipients, laying of a wreath and TAPS by a local high school trumpeter.

The event was a success, we had designated staff at each location (main facility & nine community based outpatient clinics) providing a Proclamation and Pin after first providing a strong handshake and welcoming each Vietnam Veteran who had an appointment today. We've utilized a panel of Vietnam Veterans to assist in guiding us on the types of events to host. The information provided was low key, personal events. The Vietnam Veterans questioned stated they don't want the attention, but want to be sure we always remember who didn't make it back, those are the ones whom appreciation needs to be extended they shared.

A Proclamation declaring March 29, 2017 as "Welcome Home Vietnam Veteran's Day" was issued by Mayor Dean Mazzarella of Leominster. This was brought to Leominster Veterans Director Richard Voutour where he will post on the Veterans Center Facebook page. Flyers were hung at the Sterling Auction Hall at First Church announcing a free dessert to ALL veterans as our chapter provides food for the evening as a chapter fundraiser. Only four of the veterans accepted a free dessert while the other three chose to pay but expressed appreciation that we were honoring them and that they made it home. Although this was low key, the attendees were reminded of the sacrifices of the veterans. Our DAR Team of workers took pride in knowing we had an opportunity to say "thank you for your service" to each one of them.

It was a fabulous day! we had 9 DAR Chapter ladies in attendance. A table was placed in the Leatherneck Gallery where we had the proclamations, American Flags, pins, stickers, brochures available as well as cards we had the visitors sign to be placed in troop care boxes. Several veterans asked to take a pin/stickers to friends they had who were also veterans. Many of the museum docents were Vietnam Veterans and appreciated the effort we made to honor them.

The Vietnam Commemoration flag was flown above Portage City Hall in lieu of the city's own flag. This was mentioned in passing by all media outlets as part of the coverage of Vietnam Veterans' Day events in the region. The city of Portage issued a proclamation on May 28 2016 which set aside a full year to honor the veterans of Vietnam and their families. The number of people who drove by city hall and noticed the flag is unknown.

The Vietnam War was, until the current conflict, the longest war in American history and, arguably, the most unpopular American conflict of the 20th Century. It resulted in 58,274 American deaths and an estimated 2 million Vietnamese deaths. The Vietnam War first began in 1959 and raged until 1973 when a peace accord was signed in Paris ending the conflict, and by 29 March of that year American combat troops had left the country. Many came home from that war to a country that failed to acknowledge their service and their sacrifice, and failed to give them the honor they so deserved. But, this commemoration event gives the State of Utah—and the nation—an opportunity to recognize those who served in this war and what they did on our behalf. Today, Utah is home to approximately 46,000 Vietnam War Veterans, and it is those who are here today that we are honoring and offering our undying gratitude. The event was one of dozens sponsored by the Department of Defense and the Department of Veterans Affairs across the United States on Tuesday as part of a multiyear 50th anniversary commemoration of the Vietnam War. Five years ago, President Barack Obama proclaimed a 13-year program—from Memorial Day 2012 through Veterans Day 2025—to acknowledge the more than 1 million men and women who served in the American military between Jan. 12, 1962, the date of the first U.S. combat mission against the Viet Cong, and March 29, 1973, when the last U.S. troops left Vietnam. The Salt Lake Regional Office of the Veterans Benefits Administration co-sponsored the event with the Utah State of Department Veterans, and the VA medical center. Stated officials read the presidential proclamation, presented Vietnam Veterans with pins, and conducted a wreath laying ceremony.

The event was very successful - raising student awareness of National Vietnam Veterans Day. Report: Members of the Jane Randolph Jefferson Chapter NSDAR set up a Vietnam Veterans display in the library at the Jefferson City High School during the week of March 27 with the objective to increase awareness of National Vietnam Veterans Day, March 29. This official observance was set forth by President Nixon with the support of Congress on March 29, 1974. As official partners with the National Vietnam War Commemoration, our effort in this mission is to honor Vietnam Veterans for their service and sacrifice – an honor not bestowed on these heroes when they returned from Vietnam. The display showcased Vietnam Veterans Day proclamations, Vietnam War Fact Sheet, and “Welcome Home” posters. Commemorative Vietnam War stickers, brochures, car decals, commemorative tin pins, and flag codes were available throughout the week for students to enjoy, take home, and share. Students were encouraged to honor family and friends who served in Vietnam by completing Memorial/Honor cards which were then displayed on the hallways at the school. On March 29, Regent Kaysen formally presented one Vietnam Veteran with a certificate of appreciation and a Commemorative lapel pin. The veteran works in the school’s special education department to assist with special needs students. He was thanked for his service and sacrifice to America. In response, he wrote an appreciative letter of gratitude, expressing how much this recognition meant to him. A National Vietnam Veteran’s Day announcement was broadcast on the school PA system. The Jefferson City New Tribune ran a front page photo of the regent in the library talking with a student whose uncle served in the War. DAR member Joy Corwin, the high school librarian, coordinated with the principal, also a veteran, in setting up the display.

This is the first year we've organized an event for this day. Even so, we were pleased with the turnout. We had a flag ceremony, rifle salute and a short program. In addition to Vietnam veterans, we had 5 Korean War veterans and their spouses in attendance. We were able to provide one Vietnam era veteran with a lapel pin, tin pins and stickers. (The other veterans have already received their lapel pins.) Three other tin pins were given out.

The four Spokane Chapters braved the rainstorm and celebrated National Vietnam Veterans Day. Our first flag raising was the Spokane Valley City Hall. Councilman Ed Pace, a Vietnam Vet, was our speaker. We presented Ray Fadeley with a certificate and materials from the Commemorative Committee. He told us about his time in Vietnam and thanked us for remembering the troops. We then went to the Spokane Veterans Memorial Arena for a flag ceremony. We spread the word that President Trump signed into law that March 29 is now designated as Vietnam Veterans Day,we then went to the Spokane City Veterans Memorial Arena and performed another flag raising and were interviewed by KXLY.

We hunt the commemorative flag in the recreation room and made an announcement that there was a special event for all Vietnam era veterans that afternoon. The veterans came in slowly as they were able and available and they were greeted and presented with a lapel pin and DAR Certificate. We had the names of several veteran prior to the event and their certificate were pre-printed. Other veterans received their lapel pins on that day as well but received their certificates a week later. Those who were not well enough to make it to the recreation room received their pins and certificates in their rooms. All veterans were told "welcome home" and we listened to them share their stories. My husband, a Vietnam veterans himself, was there to help. Sadly, two of the veterans (not included in total count) passed away before the event happened. Overall, it was a great success and well received by all.

Blount County Veterans Service Office and V2VT Korean Veteran Ken Russell who recognizes Vietnam Veterans at a weekly Saturday flea market in Pigeon Forge. At least 50% of the eligible recipients are states other than Tennessee. 52 males, 27 Army, 5 Marines, 6 Navy and 14 Air Force. Objective 1 & 2 met. Blount County VSO continues to take photo of most of the recipients which are posted at www.tnvhc.org. Ken Russell is urged to take photos. Recipients are very grateful. Most do not know about the VWC.

Even though the weather was cool and rainy, there was a surprising number of veterans and family in attendance on this historic day. The American Legion Color Guard marched to their stand, the DAR Spokesman, made the Pledge of Allegiance was recited by the crowd. The Mayor read the Proclamation and a Vietnam Veteran (Carl Mecklenburg)raised the Commemorative Flag. The American Legion Color Guard held a brief ceremony at the conclusion of the event.

The Huntington Regional Office has been recognizing all Vietnam Veterans entering the our facility for services. A decision was made, based on walk-in traffic, that all Vietnam Veterans would be recognized for their service during their visit to the Regional Office. A local policy was put into place in April 2016. Veterans Service Officers (DAV, PVA, MOPH and WVDVA) and Public Contact Representative were instructed to notify the Director's Office when a Vietnam Veterans was identified, at which time the Director or designated official would personally present a lapel pin and thank he/she for their service. To this date, 563 lapel pins have been awarded. In addition, leadership hosted a small event at the Regional Office to recognize our Vietnam Veteran employees. Regional Office leadership will continue issuing lapel pins going forward.

On 29 March, 2017, Vietnam Veterans Day, TREA, The Enlisted Association, Chapter 1 held their 6th award ceremony honoring Vietnam Era Veterans by presenting them a certificate and a lapel pin authorized by Congress in 2012. Thanks to the DAV Post 26 for letting us use their facility and for providing the coffee and refreshments. Approximately 90 veterans appeared, most to be honored, but also many who came to support their Comrades in Arms. There were also 47 family members who came to support their loved ones. Although we had attempted to coordinate media coverage through the local TV channel and the local newspaper, we were disappointed that neither media outlet came through to support the ceremony. Partnered with DAV Chapter 26.

Thank and honor those who served during the Vietnam War Period. Educate the community about Vietnam and the sacrifices made by our Veterans. We have several events planned in the near future. We will be having a Family Campout to Celebrate Freedom on 9/8/2017. We will have a table at our Veterans Stand Down on 8/18/2017. We are gathering names for "Ceremonies of Honor" in which we will present lapel pins and some Veterans will tell their story to the community. We are developing movie and reading clubs with our local libraries. We are contracting with American Veterans Traveling Tribute to bring a replica of the Vietnam Wall to Coos County in 9/2018.

Met objectives 1,2, and 3. Recipients: 50 male, 16 Army, 25 Marines, 5 Navy and 4 Air Force. One Vietnam Air Force POW, Wayne Ogden Smith. Shot down on Jan 18, 1968 and release in 1973. Almost none of the recipients were aware of the Vietnam War Commemoration but where honored and humbled to receive the recognition. Collaborated with disables Vietnam Veteran and Author of "What a Life, John "Randy" Kington. Pins distributed at various Southwest Florida and Morristown TN.

When Dawn's husband, a Vietnam veteran, has an appointment at the VA hospital, she attends with him and sets up a post at whatever door she is close too. As veterans come into the hospital, she checks to see if any are Vietnam veterans and if so, presents them with the lapel pins. If she has the proclamations and stickers, she also hands those out but she always tags a bag of lapel pins with her. As she walks down the hallways and sees Vietnam veterans, she will stop and give out a pin. Dawn said that she had approximately 6 visits to the VA hospital over the past couple months.

We had separate meetings with Vietnam Veterans on 43 different occasions and locations. These are small encounters – sometimes a small group plans an event (too small to call an event) or it is an accidental meeting. These occur throughout Iowa as we carry them with us at all times. One of our Chapter members volunteers at the VA Hospital. Another person is a truck driver and meets a variety of folks. With Iowa being such a rural state and not all Veterans belong to a Veterans group, it is imperative that we recognize them where and when we can. This count is only for events not covered under a separate event where a Before Event form is completed.

We have been reaching out at local event shows, specifically gun shows and car shows with an outreach table and identifying Vietnam Veterans, telling them about the Commemorative pin and welcoming them home. Our members also carry pins so they can give pins to Vietnam Veterans that they meet in group sessions, restaurants, airports etc. We have found that Vietnam Veterans may not want to come to an event to honor them, so we go where the veterans are.

isitors arc asked by Docents and through signage to identify themselves as having served between 1955 and 1975, and we approach visitors who display obvious signs of being a Vietnam Veteran e.g. hats, vests, insignia etc. When identified, Veterans and/or their spouses are presented a lapel pin and certificate and are offered the other VW50th commemorative materials.

Vietnam Veterans were able to show their military items, photos, scrapbooks and memorabilia. Veterans moved some of their items out to Commemoration shows. Lapeer County Commemoration group moved items from museum to exhibits and back to museum through the 3 years. On special days Vietnam Vets were at the museum to greet people and talk to them about the exhibit the last being 12/20/17.
