We will be holding a series of events and public programs at the National Archives Museum and a Presidential Libraries across the country in the next few weeks, in conjunction with our Remembering Vietnam exhibition and initiative, and want to have a sufficient supply of Commemoration materials and Vietnam Veteran lapel pins to thank, honor, and recognize veterans in attendance. Here are some of the scheduled events:
Friday, November 10 at 12pm - Book Lecture: Six Years in the Hanoi Hilton: An Extraordinary Story of Courage and Survival in Vietnam by Amy Shively Hawk.
Friday, November 10 at 2pm - Lecture: Women Vietnam Veterans: Our Untold Stories with Donna Lowery. Vietnam veteran SGM Donna Lowery, author of Women Vietnam Veterans: Our Untold Story, will discuss the participation of American military women (non-nurses) during the Vietnam War.
Friday, November 10 at 4:30pm - Discussion: Helicopters in Vietnam.
Saturday, November 11 at 2pm - Film Screening and Discussion: We Were Soldiers (2002). Based on the book We Were Soldiers Once . . . And Young by Lt. Gen. (Ret.) Hal Moore and reporter Joseph L. Galloway. Galloway will introduce the screening.
Saturday, November 11 at 7pm - Discussion: 35th Anniversary of The Wall. In partnership with the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund (VVMF), we present a panel discussion about the history and legacy of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, dedicated on November 13, 1982.
Tuesday, November 14, at 12pm - Book Lecture: Enduring Vietnam: An American Generation and Its War by James Wright.
Thursday, November 16 at 7pm - Panel Discussion: "Vietnam: Lessons Learned and Lessons Ignored" panel in partnership with U.S. Association of Former Members of Congress.
