The Vietnam Veterans Commemorative Trail is located in Price County and has 13 markers to represent the 13 years of service and sacrifice of the brothers and sisters in arms. The markers denote events of the war that were deemed important by Vietnam Veterans. The trail is a commemorative project to remind the public of the sacrifices made by this group of unheralded veterans.

We will be holding our event here in Grayling, MI on POW/MIA flag day 16th of September 2016. We will be having an event with vendors, shuttle rides for vets etc to the movie theater in town. We plan to talk of the importance of the pow flag and families. We also plan to have several Veteran speakers. Then we will ask all Veitnam Veterans to line up, and walk across the stage where we will shake their hands, present them with their pin etc. We also plan to continue to welcome them home each and every time we have a Veitnam Veteran in the office. We want to be able to do the same whether they are able to attend the event or not. Complete program, celebrating the era. Walking in we printed all posters from partner portal for the veterans to look at. Michigan National Guard, had 3 volunteers in dress blues to usher people to their seats. We did have a local newspaper in attendance. As they were seated music/military videos of the era were playing on the big screen. Complete program agenda attached. All attendees were very pleased. Response from 3 of the 5 local veterans lost in the war. Did have videos to play between speakers. After Action Review: - Not enough time to look at posters of info before ushers put them in seats. - Request RSVP from the very beginning for vets in attendance - Prior rehearsal, even though it could not have ran better - Prior instruction to speakers pertaining to mic and audio equipment - Better coordination of volunteers to set up/tear down event

Event at Chapter Meeting with invited Vietnam Veterans and wives; Our chapter Members honor Vietnam Veterans in public when we see a Veteran with a baseball cap that says Vietnam Veteran we give them a pin and proclamation...although this is not the dignified setting for an official event, every Veteran we have honored walking on the street, shopping in a public plac, attending another event,has been thrilled and touched that someone carries with them the small tokens of a pin and proclamation to honor them. We usually say "Welcome Home" and engage in conversation if the Veteran is willing.

As Vietnam Veterans come to our office to file disability claims we are able to present them with their Vietnam Pin, the program brochure and bumper sticker. K/C provide dinner/lunches for the honor flights, our chapter attends to help serve & clean up, while we are there we identify and recognize the veterans from the various eras. In this specific case, we will recognize the VN Veterans and present the commemoration pin, stickers, etc. **This is the spring session, they usually have 9 dinners or lunches, as of now only 4 are set up, so we are using estimate numbers to account for the 9 events. Past meals have shown that anywhere from 25-100 VN Veterans are with each honor flight, so I am being conservative on my request for the supplies. I know that I can request additional should we run low.

This exhibit features traditional cultural objects made by the Montagnards of Vietnam representing a way of life that has disappeared. Named “mountain people” by French colonials, the Montagnard people comprise several tribes that made their homeland in the central highlands of Vietnam. They lived a stone age existence in relative isolation from the majority Vietnamese in the lowlands and from foreigners until 1887, when Vietnam became part of French Indochina. During the mid-twentieth century, the central highlands gained strategic military value because the Ho Chi Minh Trail traversed the region. Thus, the Montagnards suddenly experienced contact with the outside world, which meant the growth of modern infrastructure and communication and the end of their traditional ways. When the United States became involved in the Vietnam War, US Army Special Forces recruited Montagnards to fight side by side with them to help block the flow of supplies to the Viet Cong along the Ho Chi Minh Trail. After US forces withdrew from Vietnam, Montagnards continued to fight the Vietnamese; many were forced to flee as refugees. During the 1980s-2000s, US Army veterans sponsored their resettlement in North Carolina. Now our state is home to the largest Montagnard population outside of Vietnam.

This event is to honor our Vietnam Veterans for their service and dedication to our country and give them the Welcome Home they never received. A Color Guard and Pipes Band will escort the veterans into the event. Each Vietnam Veteran will be called up on the stage, given a moment to state when and when they served, present with a pin, a Handmade Patriotic Quilt and several other gifts, then proceed down a receiving line to be thanked for their service and welcomed home. This year we are going to offer Surviving Spouses the opportunity to come up on stage in honor of their Vietnam Veteran.

The Pennsylvania Department of Military and Veterans Affairs operates two mobile outreach vans that support military and Veteran events throughout the Commonwealth. During outreach events the outreach teams encounter a significant number of Vietnam Veterans. During the past two years we have been honoring these Veterans by providing bumper stickers and pins at outreach events. When a Veteran takes a bumper sticker or pin, the team thanks them for their service and sacrifice. We have been honored to be able to provide this service to the Veterans. The St. Clair County Department of Veterans Affairs is calling on veterans of the Vietnam era to claim their honorary Vietnam veteran lapel pins in St. Clair County and surrounding counties. 2 of our chapter members are qualified for the Honor Flight Buses. We tried thus last year, and it was amazing! they will be recognized on the bus as it is moving towards Washington D.C. After their welcome/introduction, each "era" is welcomed and the Vietnam Veterans will receive their pins during either a stop at the Wall or at one of the other memorial stops (depending what is on the tour schedule). Currently, only flights from April-June have been released for sign ups which is why I dated it accordingly above. 14 April is the first tour.

The Memorial Day event is primarily to honor members of our community who have passed and especially honor our deceased veterans. The event will be hosted by the Town of Truckee and the Truckee Cemetery District. Our Civil Air Patrol cadets will place American flags on all veterans graves in in advance of the event. The CAP cadets will present the colors at the event. Local dignitaries will speak and the co-hosts will call up to the podium and recognize Vietnam Era veterans. They will be asked to state their branch of service and awarded a Vietnam Era Pin. Spouses of deceased veterans who served in the Vietnam Era that have passed will also be called up and awarded a surviving spouse pin in honor of their spouses service to our country. Refreshments will be served after the event and lunch thereafter at the Truckee Memorial Veterans Hall.

In addition to honoring our patients for their service to our country, we will be thanking our Vietnam Veteran patients for sacrifices made during the Vietnam War. There are a number of patients who have never been recognized or thanked, and our dedicated group of volunteers, who are veterans themselves (currently 2 who served in Vietnam in combat), conduct a meaningful presentation to the patient and their family. This also creates a time for the patient to share stories and conduct life review which is critical at end-of-life. Many times, the family has never heard these stories and now have a meaningful memory to hold and the patient is now leaving a legacy that will live long after.

Our member is traveling to Panama May 1 and will be arranging for a Viet Nam Veteran Program during the reunion. To Find Vietnam Veterans and Vietnam Era Veterans and present them with their well deserved Commemorative Pin. They will receive their pin in a individual ceremony because our tour will be done by RV to several cities in every Eastern state in the United States. Our tour will last for 6 months. Our mission is to find Vietnam/Era Veterans that don't have computers and don't know anything about these Commemorative Pin. On our Western tour last year we only had 175 pins to pass out and we meet may Vietnam Veterans that did not receive their Pin.

For the 30th anniversary of Run For The Wall the participating riders this year have an opportunity to continue the incredible opportunity across our nation to honor respect and recognize the veterans that served during the Vietnam era. In addition they have tools in place to honor those that served during the Korean war and Global War on Terrorism. The riders will be prepared for the trip and all stops across the nation where the sponsoring sites are not having a ceremony and are able to present to the riders on the 3 separate routes which start in Ontario California.Last year it was only at Hutchison Kansas where the group, Central Route" as a whole was recognized by the Commemorative Partners at the base there. There is a total of 10 individuals that are leaving the Kansas City metro area riding together to Ontario for "All the way" status within the Run For The Wall group. These individuals hold leadership roles as Platoon Leaders, Tail Gunners and Fuel Team and Stagers.Each of the 10 will have 100 pins each.The family buttons and Lone Soldier pins allow them to include their friends and family as part of the individual presentations.

During the week of May 20th thru May 28th our parish displays the Florida Fallen Solders Memorial Crosses. The crosses represent all soldiers who died in the Iraq and Afghanistan wars who lived in Florida. Our week ends with a Memorial Day service. Immediately following our Memorial Day service we plan to give thanks and recognize the sacrifices made during the Vietnam War. We actually have former refugees from Vietnam who benefited from the efforts of our soldiers to award the lapel pins and give thanks. The story of how their lives were transformed from a life of desperation to productive proud American citizens as a result of our country's dedication to freedom will be shared with everyone. Our parish will invite all the attendees to stay for Hot Dogs and watermelon and personally thank the soldiers for their service. I'm sorry for the late notification but this is the first year of our participation with your organization and we will be better prepared for future events.

This event is being held to honor Vietnam Veterans, drawing special attention to the Michigan KIA, POW, MIA and their families. The event will host motorcycle groups from all the surrounding counties (app.7-8 co.) Members will be presenting lapel pins all day each day to Vietnam Veterans. The Veterans and families in the local community will also be invited. A noon hot dog roast will be served and decorated cakes for each branch of the service with coffee. Our Committee members will work both days (24 hour guard)at the Wall. Opening Flag Raising, Star Spangled Banner, Pledge to the flag, honor guard and services each day. Closing services. All local veterans and NSDAR members will be marching in the Memorial Parade on Monday. Lapel pins will be available on Monday for Vietnam Veterans who haven't received theirs. Lapel pins have not been presented in surrounding counties so we don't really know how many we will need.

During the next six months, VFW Post 9835 will be conducting recruitment and fund-raising activities at the town's First Friday events (June thru Nov) plus our semi-annual Buddy Poppy Fund raiser on 25-27 May. In addition, we will be promoting the Vietnam War specifically on 6 July. The First Friday that day is designated as a "Star Spangled First Friday" with emphasis on veterans from all wars. A specific set-up will be made to promote the Vietnam Commemoration. The Post continues to search out eligible Vietnam Veterans and present them with commemorative lapel pins (and pins to survivors). Year-to-date, 23 pins have been distributed and the Post's supply has dwindled down to 8. We need a resupply ASAP to be available by the 25th of May.

Presentation of the Certificate of Honor and associated Lapel Pin to spouses of deceased Vietnam Veterans. The presentation will take place at the deceased veterans wake, when the Naugatuck Council members perform our ceremony in honor of our deceased brethren / sister. Coordination of the ceremony is accomplished through communications between the Funeral Home and the Chairman of the Council. All veterans are quested to attend the ceremony to pay final respect to our dearly departed comrade. NMUSN's Cold War Gallery building features an exhibit on the Navy and the VN War, including a VN era SWIFT Boat. The Museum visitation tops 100,000/year. We are expecting to host at least 1,000 VN era Veterans this summer as attendees of Honor Flight tours that bring Veterans from around the country to Washington to visit military memorials and museums. We would like a VN 50th Flag to fly outside the Cold War Gallery, if an indoor flag is also available we'd display that indoors by the VN exhibit.

The purpose of the event is to honor Vietnam War Veterans and their families by displaying The Traveling Vietnam Wall as means of remembrance and respect for our fallen and their loved ones left behind. Thursday The Vietnam Wall will have a police escort for 10 miles through the city of Ocala to the Veterans Park. For the next four day there will be many concerts, memorial presentations for the veterans and Gold Star Families. The Vietnam Veterans Tribute Truck will be appearing all weekend to pin Vietnam Veterans and Gold Star Families. Go to: http://signthetruck.org

The purpose of the event is to honor active duty military, veterans, and military families in general, and Vietnam Veterans and their spouses and families in particular. This is the Third Annual Veterans Day Ceremony that we have sponsored as a Commemorative Partner. In the past Veterans Day ceremonies, we have honored more than 300 Vietnam Veterans, along with smaller ceremonies conducted throughout the year in churches, and public venues. This year, we intend to expand the ceremony to honor the spouses and families of deceased Vietnam Veterans under the Honor Program established for that purpose. Specifically individually recognize veteran hospice patients who are unable to attend larger public recognition ceremonies. 14 presentations done in 2018 and 8 done to date in 2019.
