The Vietnam Veterans Commemorative Trail is located in Price County and has 13 markers to represent the 13 years of service and sacrifice of the brothers and sisters in arms. The markers denote events of the war that were deemed important by Vietnam Veterans. The trail is a commemorative project to remind the public of the sacrifices made by this group of unheralded veterans.

We will be holding our event here in Grayling, MI on POW/MIA flag day 16th of September 2016. We will be having an event with vendors, shuttle rides for vets etc to the movie theater in town. We plan to talk of the importance of the pow flag and families. We also plan to have several Veteran speakers. Then we will ask all Veitnam Veterans to line up, and walk across the stage where we will shake their hands, present them with their pin etc. We also plan to continue to welcome them home each and every time we have a Veitnam Veteran in the office. We want to be able to do the same whether they are able to attend the event or not. Complete program, celebrating the era. Walking in we printed all posters from partner portal for the veterans to look at. Michigan National Guard, had 3 volunteers in dress blues to usher people to their seats. We did have a local newspaper in attendance. As they were seated music/military videos of the era were playing on the big screen. Complete program agenda attached. All attendees were very pleased. Response from 3 of the 5 local veterans lost in the war. Did have videos to play between speakers. After Action Review: - Not enough time to look at posters of info before ushers put them in seats. - Request RSVP from the very beginning for vets in attendance - Prior rehearsal, even though it could not have ran better - Prior instruction to speakers pertaining to mic and audio equipment - Better coordination of volunteers to set up/tear down event

Event at Chapter Meeting with invited Vietnam Veterans and wives; Our chapter Members honor Vietnam Veterans in public when we see a Veteran with a baseball cap that says Vietnam Veteran we give them a pin and proclamation...although this is not the dignified setting for an official event, every Veteran we have honored walking on the street, shopping in a public plac, attending another event,has been thrilled and touched that someone carries with them the small tokens of a pin and proclamation to honor them. We usually say "Welcome Home" and engage in conversation if the Veteran is willing.

As Vietnam Veterans come to our office to file disability claims we are able to present them with their Vietnam Pin, the program brochure and bumper sticker. K/C provide dinner/lunches for the honor flights, our chapter attends to help serve & clean up, while we are there we identify and recognize the veterans from the various eras. In this specific case, we will recognize the VN Veterans and present the commemoration pin, stickers, etc. **This is the spring session, they usually have 9 dinners or lunches, as of now only 4 are set up, so we are using estimate numbers to account for the 9 events. Past meals have shown that anywhere from 25-100 VN Veterans are with each honor flight, so I am being conservative on my request for the supplies. I know that I can request additional should we run low.

Please join us for the 5th Marines Vietnam Memorial Dedication Ceremony honoring the 2706 Marines and Sailors who died in the Vietnam War while fighting with the 5th Regiment and the more than 14,000 Marines and Sailors who also died during this war. The 5th Marine Vietnam War Memorial will consist of 6 freestanding panels of black granite surrounding an obelisk centerpiece and viewing benches. The name and rank of all 2706 5th Marines and Sailors KIA more than 50 years ago will be etched onto the 6 granite panels. The monument will stand proudly next to the other monuments in the San Mateo Memorial Garden at Camp Pendleton, Oceanside, Ca.

This exhibit features traditional cultural objects made by the Montagnards of Vietnam representing a way of life that has disappeared. Named “mountain people” by French colonials, the Montagnard people comprise several tribes that made their homeland in the central highlands of Vietnam. They lived a stone age existence in relative isolation from the majority Vietnamese in the lowlands and from foreigners until 1887, when Vietnam became part of French Indochina. During the mid-twentieth century, the central highlands gained strategic military value because the Ho Chi Minh Trail traversed the region. Thus, the Montagnards suddenly experienced contact with the outside world, which meant the growth of modern infrastructure and communication and the end of their traditional ways. When the United States became involved in the Vietnam War, US Army Special Forces recruited Montagnards to fight side by side with them to help block the flow of supplies to the Viet Cong along the Ho Chi Minh Trail. After US forces withdrew from Vietnam, Montagnards continued to fight the Vietnamese; many were forced to flee as refugees. During the 1980s-2000s, US Army veterans sponsored their resettlement in North Carolina. Now our state is home to the largest Montagnard population outside of Vietnam.

During outreach events the outreach teams encounter a significant number of Vietnam Veterans. During the past two years we have been honoring these Veterans by providing bumper stickers and pins at outreach events. When a Veteran takes a bumper sticker or pin, the team thanks them for their service and sacrifice. We have been honored to be able to provide this service to the Veterans. 2 of our chapter members are qualified for the Honor Flight Buses. We tried thus last year, and it was amazing! they will be recognized on the bus as it is moving towards Washington D.C. After their welcome/introduction, each "era" is welcomed and the Vietnam Veterans will receive their pins during either a stop at the Wall or at one of the other memorial stops (depending what is on the tour schedule). Currently, only flights from April-June have been released for sign ups which is why I dated it accordingly above. 14 April is the first tour.

The Memorial Day event is primarily to honor our veterans who have passed away. Many veterans attend this event. This is an opportunity to honor and recognize living Vietnam era veterans in our community also. Our Civil Air Patrol Squadron cadets will (as always) place American flags on all the veteran graves buried in the Truckee cemetery ahead of the ceremony. At the beginning if the ceremony, the same Tahoe Truckee Composite Squadron CAP cadets will perform the Color guard presentation. We will call up each and every veteran to the podium who are qualified to receive the Vietnam Veteran lapel pin and present the pin to each of them by the co-hosts leaders. Each veteran will then be given an opportunity to speak to the citizens in attendance. We will also call up any spouses that their love one's who lost their lives due to the Vietnam conflict. Local dignitaries will also speak at the event. Refreshments will be served.

Our member is traveling to Panama May 1 and will be arranging for a Viet Nam Veteran Program during the reunion. Fairfax County is home to 87,000 veterans.This is an annual event organized by the Mayor's Office of the City of Fairfax and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8469. Held at City Hall and attended by the public, school children, and elected officials, the names of all Fairfax residents who died in the service to our Nation, World War 1 to the present day, are read. A significant number of Vietnam War veterans, and their families, reside in Fairfax and attend this annual event. Their service and sacrifice is honored. Following the Memorial Day Parade, American Legion Post 19 will conduct a ceremony in front of the historical Congregational Church on the village green. An introductory address will be provided by Post 19. The names, branch of service and other service information will be read to the audience. Per the partnership protocol, Post 19 will follow the "Vietnam Veteran Lapel Pin Presentation Guidelines" when awarding the lapel pins. A completion address will conclude the ceremony. A post ceremony collation will be provided by Post 19. During the completion address American Legion membership for veterans will be encouraged and details will be made available to interested parties.

We placed extra bumper stickers on the counter where Veterans sign in and they were gone in days. The Vietnam Veterans who came in were very appreciative. For the 30th anniversary of Run For The Wall the participating riders this year have an opportunity to continue the incredible opportunity across our nation to honor respect and recognize the veterans that served during the Vietnam era. In addition they have tools in place to honor those that served during the Korean war and Global War on Terrorism. The riders will be prepared for the trip and all stops across the nation where the sponsoring sites are not having a ceremony and are able to present to the riders on the 3 separate routes which start in Ontario California.Last year it was only at Hutchison Kansas where the group, Central Route" as a whole was recognized by the Commemorative Partners at the base there. There is a total of 10 individuals that are leaving the Kansas City metro area riding together to Ontario for "All the way" status within the Run For The Wall group. These individuals hold leadership roles as Platoon Leaders, Tail Gunners and Fuel Team and Stagers.Each of the 10 will have 100 pins each.The family buttons and Lone Soldier pins allow them to include their friends and family as part of the individual presentations.

The Governor of Kansas signs an annual proclamation recognizing the service and sacrifices of Vietnam War veterans. The event is held in conjunction with Kansas Military Appreciation Day at the state capitol. During the week of May 20th thru May 28th our parish displays the Florida Fallen Solders Memorial Crosses. The crosses represent all soldiers who died in the Iraq and Afghanistan wars who lived in Florida. Our week ends with a Memorial Day service. Immediately following our Memorial Day service we plan to give thanks and recognize the sacrifices made during the Vietnam War. We actually have former refugees from Vietnam who benefited from the efforts of our soldiers to award the lapel pins and give thanks. The story of how their lives were transformed from a life of desperation to productive proud American citizens as a result of our country's dedication to freedom will be shared with everyone. Our parish will invite all the attendees to stay for Hot Dogs and watermelon and personally thank the soldiers for their service. I'm sorry for the late notification but this is the first year of our participation with your organization and we will be better prepared for future events.

Of these, approximately 200 are expected to be Vietnam Veterans. The event is to honor and remember all local veterans including KIA, MIA, and POW who have died to protect our freedoms. Veteran Navigator will be walking in the parade with posters to welcome our Vietnam Veterans Home along with wearing t-shirts that say, "We (Heart) Our Vietnam Veterans" just like the stickers from this program. At the end of the parade, there will be a 30-45 minute ceremony. After, the Veteran Navigator and us St. Clair County Department of Veterans Affairs will have a table to honor and recognize the Vietnam veterans who have not gotten their lapel pins yet.

Vietnam Veterans of America Daytona Beach Chapter 1048, Inc. in partnership with Volusia Memorial Park will remember and honor our fallen veterans on Memorial Day May 28, 2018 at 10:00 am. Volusia County lost 45 residents during the Vietnam War, they will be honored, their names will be read, with a bell sound after each name. Wreaths from VVA Chapter 1048, Daughters of the American Revolution, Knights of Columbus and Gold Star Mothers will be presented. In addition, a Missing Man Ceremony will be performed. Proclamations from the City of Ormond Beach and Volusia County have been requested. A Granite Memorial, listing the names of the 45 Volusia County Vietnam Veterans who gave all will be presented and permanently placed at the Veterans section in the Volusia Memorial Park Cemetery. This is a annual remembrance of the Brown Count residence that died in the Vietnam War. The roll on the monument is called and relatives lay flowers around the monument. 2015 Vietnam pins were given out but not explained. During the next six months, VFW Post 9835 will be conducting recruitment and fund-raising activities at the town's First Friday events (June thru Nov) plus our semi-annual Buddy Poppy Fund raiser on 25-27 May. In addition, we will be promoting the Vietnam War specifically on 6 July. The First Friday that day is designated as a "Star Spangled First Friday" with emphasis on veterans from all wars. A specific set-up will be made to promote the Vietnam Commemoration. The Post continues to search out eligible Vietnam Veterans and present them with commemorative lapel pins (and pins to survivors). Year-to-date, 23 pins have been distributed and the Post's supply has dwindled down to 8. We need a resupply ASAP to be available by the 25th of May.

NMUSN's Cold War Gallery building features an exhibit on the Navy and the VN War, including a VN era SWIFT Boat. The Museum visitation tops 100,000/year. We are expecting to host at least 1,000 VN era Veterans this summer as attendees of Honor Flight tours that bring Veterans from around the country to Washington to visit military memorials and museums. We would like a VN 50th Flag to fly outside the Cold War Gallery, if an indoor flag is also available we'd display that indoors by the VN exhibit.

The Marie Therese Cadillac Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution dressed in Revolutionary attire, will honor Vietnam Veterans by Marching in the Cadillac Michigan Area Memorial Day Parade. The 50th Anniversary Commemorative Flag will be flown as it is carried in the parade. Chapter members will be riding on a genuine Vietnam War transport truck with trailer. This truck will be driven by a Vietnam Veteran dressed in full uniform. Vietnam Veterans will be pinned before the parade begins as well as at the end of the parade. Anniversary buttons and bumper stickers will be handed out along the parade 2 mile parade route. Come out and see this fine truck.

Each year, the Washington Republican Parish Executive Committee conducts a Memorial Day event to honor those who died in service to our nation. This large gathering of living veterans was utilized to commend and thank living Vietnam War era veterans, as well. During the ceremony, forty (40) Vietnam era veterans stepped forward to receive lapel pins when recognized. Commander John Wells, USN Ret'd, presented the lapel pins to recipients in a dignified outdoor ceremony before a beautiful monument at Pool's Bluff Veteran's Memorial.

Very long event - Second biggest attendance. Unveiling of the MIA POW Monument, put three new names on Wall of Honor and Honored families who lost loved ones in Vietnam. Well over 700 Vietnam Veterans. The National Director for the MIA POW Organization was the guest speaker. He was shocked to see Norco monument and POW MIA monument. And was shocked at the number of Vietnam era MIA bracelets were still being worn by attendees.
