The Vietnam Veterans Commemorative Trail is located in Price County and has 13 markers to represent the 13 years of service and sacrifice of the brothers and sisters in arms. The markers denote events of the war that were deemed important by Vietnam Veterans. The trail is a commemorative project to remind the public of the sacrifices made by this group of unheralded veterans.

We will be holding our event here in Grayling, MI on POW/MIA flag day 16th of September 2016. We will be having an event with vendors, shuttle rides for vets etc to the movie theater in town. We plan to talk of the importance of the pow flag and families. We also plan to have several Veteran speakers. Then we will ask all Veitnam Veterans to line up, and walk across the stage where we will shake their hands, present them with their pin etc. We also plan to continue to welcome them home each and every time we have a Veitnam Veteran in the office. We want to be able to do the same whether they are able to attend the event or not. Complete program, celebrating the era. Walking in we printed all posters from partner portal for the veterans to look at. Michigan National Guard, had 3 volunteers in dress blues to usher people to their seats. We did have a local newspaper in attendance. As they were seated music/military videos of the era were playing on the big screen. Complete program agenda attached. All attendees were very pleased. Response from 3 of the 5 local veterans lost in the war. Did have videos to play between speakers. After Action Review: - Not enough time to look at posters of info before ushers put them in seats. - Request RSVP from the very beginning for vets in attendance - Prior rehearsal, even though it could not have ran better - Prior instruction to speakers pertaining to mic and audio equipment - Better coordination of volunteers to set up/tear down event

Event at Chapter Meeting with invited Vietnam Veterans and wives; Our chapter Members honor Vietnam Veterans in public when we see a Veteran with a baseball cap that says Vietnam Veteran we give them a pin and proclamation...although this is not the dignified setting for an official event, every Veteran we have honored walking on the street, shopping in a public plac, attending another event,has been thrilled and touched that someone carries with them the small tokens of a pin and proclamation to honor them. We usually say "Welcome Home" and engage in conversation if the Veteran is willing.

During the ten-month period beginning January 2018 thru 11 November 2018, our Northland Cathedral Vietnam Veterans will be hosting and participating in public services honoring living veterans who served at any time on active duty in the U.S. Armed Forces during the period of November 1, 1955 to May 15, 1975. Our outreach service begins in St. Joseph, MO on 11 January 2018 at the Military Officer Association of America in St. Joseph, MO and will ultimately be commemoration services/events throughout the year at Northland Cathedral in Kansas City, MO; Christ Chapel in Platte City, MO;The Run For The Wall Bikers Ride (Rest Stop) in Concordia, MO; Veterans Day Events at several locations in Kansas City, MO and others.

As Vietnam Veterans come to our office to file disability claims we are able to present them with their Vietnam Pin, the program brochure and bumper sticker. I can't tell you how much they appreciate it. It is hard to say how many Vietnam Vets we see each day as they come to our office for appointments, tax issues, DD-214 questions, Loans. K/C provide dinner/lunches for the honor flights, our chapter attends to help serve & clean up, while we are there we identify and recognize the veterans from the various eras. In this specific case, we will recognize the VN Veterans and present the commemoration pin, stickers, etc. **This is the spring session, they usually have 9 dinners or lunches, as of now only 4 are set up, so we are using estimate numbers to account for the 9 events. Past meals have shown that anywhere from 25-100 VN Veterans are with each honor flight, so I am being conservative on my request for the supplies. I know that I can request additional should we run low.

This exhibit features traditional cultural objects made by the Montagnards of Vietnam representing a way of life that has disappeared. Named “mountain people” by French colonials, the Montagnard people comprise several tribes that made their homeland in the central highlands of Vietnam. They lived a stone age existence in relative isolation from the majority Vietnamese in the lowlands and from foreigners until 1887, when Vietnam became part of French Indochina. During the mid-twentieth century, the central highlands gained strategic military value because the Ho Chi Minh Trail traversed the region. Thus, the Montagnards suddenly experienced contact with the outside world, which meant the growth of modern infrastructure and communication and the end of their traditional ways. When the United States became involved in the Vietnam War, US Army Special Forces recruited Montagnards to fight side by side with them to help block the flow of supplies to the Viet Cong along the Ho Chi Minh Trail. After US forces withdrew from Vietnam, Montagnards continued to fight the Vietnamese; many were forced to flee as refugees. During the 1980s-2000s, US Army veterans sponsored their resettlement in North Carolina. Now our state is home to the largest Montagnard population outside of Vietnam.

The Pennsylvania Department of Military and Veterans Affairs operates two mobile outreach vans that support military and Veteran events throughout the Commonwealth. During outreach events the outreach teams encounter a significant number of Vietnam Veterans. During the past two years we have been honoring these Veterans by providing bumper stickers and pins at outreach events. When a Veteran takes a bumper sticker or pin, the team thanks them for their service and sacrifice. We have been honored to be able to provide this service to the Veterans. 2 of our chapter members are qualified for the Honor Flight Buses. We tried thus last year, and it was amazing! they will be recognized on the bus as it is moving towards Washington D.C. After their welcome/introduction, each "era" is welcomed and the Vietnam Veterans will receive their pins during either a stop at the Wall or at one of the other memorial stops (depending what is on the tour schedule). Currently, only flights from April-June have been released for sign ups which is why I dated it accordingly above. 14 April is the first tour.

There are a number of patients who have never been recognized or thanked, and our dedicated group of volunteers, who are veterans themselves (currently 2 who served in Vietnam in combat), conduct a meaningful presentation to the patient and their family. This also creates a time for the patient to share stories and conduct life review which is critical at end-of-life. Many times, the family has never heard these stories and now have a meaningful memory to hold and the patient is now leaving a legacy that will live long after.

Request additional bumper stickers for the Vietnam Veterans who come into the St. Louis VA Regional Benefit Office. We placed extra bumper stickers on the counter where Veterans sign in and they were gone in days. The Vietnam Veterans who came in were very appreciative. After the office ran out, Veterans continued to inquire if we had any left.

The Governor of Kansas signs an annual proclamation recognizing the service and sacrifices of Vietnam War veterans. The event is held in conjunction with Kansas Military Appreciation Day at the state capitol. Vietnam Veterans are invited to attend and participate in the ceremony through the state chapters of various VSOs and are recognized with a medal and a Vietnam Veteran lapel pin.

As of 4/25/18, the Virginia War Memorial is expecting 920 veterans and family members to visit the Memorial in May and June as part of organized tour groups. Of these, approximately 200 are expected to be Vietnam Veterans. As part of their tour of the Memorial, the Virginia War Memorial staff will organize lapel pin presentation ceremonies. this request will help ensure that a sufficient number of pins are on hand to honor these veterans. Honor Vietnam Veterans who visit the Virginia War Memorial or visit a DVS office. Many organized tour groups are scheduled to visit the Virginia War Memorial in 2018. Vietnam Veterans may also stop by any of the 30 DVS offices to be presented a Vietnam Veteran Lapel Pin. This is a very moving presentation for both the veterans who are being honored and for DVS team members (many of whom are veterans themselves).

During the next six months, VFW Post 9835 will be conducting recruitment and fund-raising activities at the town's First Friday events (June thru Nov) plus our semi-annual Buddy Poppy Fund raiser on 25-27 May. In addition, we will be promoting the Vietnam War specifically on 6 July. The First Friday that day is designated as a "Star Spangled First Friday" with emphasis on veterans from all wars. A specific set-up will be made to promote the Vietnam Commemoration. The Post continues to search out eligible Vietnam Veterans and present them with commemorative lapel pins (and pins to survivors). Year-to-date, 23 pins have been distributed and the Post's supply has dwindled down to 8. We need a resupply ASAP to be available by the 25th of May.

NMUSN's Cold War Gallery building features an exhibit on the Navy and the VN War, including a VN era SWIFT Boat. The Museum visitation tops 100,000/year. We are expecting to host at least 1,000 VN era Veterans this summer as attendees of Honor Flight tours that bring Veterans from around the country to Washington to visit military memorials and museums. We would like a VN 50th Flag to fly outside the Cold War Gallery, if an indoor flag is also available we'd display that indoors by the VN exhibit.

The purpose of the event is to honor active duty military, veterans, and military families in general, and Vietnam Veterans and their spouses and families in particular. This is the Third Annual Veterans Day Ceremony that we have sponsored as a Commemorative Partner. In the past Veterans Day ceremonies, we have honored more than 300 Vietnam Veterans, along with smaller ceremonies conducted throughout the year in churches, and public venues. This year, we intend to expand the ceremony to honor the spouses and families of deceased Vietnam Veterans under the Honor Program established for that purpose.
