50th Anniversary of Vietnam War "Welcome Home" Reception

Following the briefing, the United War Veterans Council, Vietnam Veterans of America Manhattan Chapter, and the Soldiers’, Sailors’, Marines’, Airmen’s and Coast Guard Club (SSMAC) will host a cocktail Reception in honor of all Vietnam Veterans, their families and guests. A memorable evening of re-union, music, and friendship.

At both events, meet Parade Grand Marshals, and the leadership of the veterans community:

Hosted by Lieutenant Commander Kim Mitchell, United States Navy, Chairperson, Vietnam Veterans Host Committee. Lt. Commander Mitchell, a Vietnam orphan, graduated with honors from the U.S. Navy Academy at Annapolis serving in the office of the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.

Diane Carlson Evans:  1st Lt. Diane Carlson Evans, served as a nurse in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and founded the Vietnam Women’s Memorial Project in 1984 (now the Vietnam Women’s Memorial Foundation), initiating and leading the effort to add the Vietnam Women’s Memorial to the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, DC.

Fang A. Wong is the past national commander of the American Legion. His U.S. Army career began in 1969 when he volunteered and deployed to Vietnam, serving for 25 months. He retired in 1981 with the rank of chief warrant officer, and has served the veterans community with pride ever since.

Job Mashariki, former President/CEO and Founder of Black Veterans for Social Justice was named to the NYS Senate Veterans’ Hall of Fame.  He served his country honorably in the United States Army in the Vietnam War.
