American Legion Post and Auxiliary Unit 626 are having an event on March 30, 2013, recognizing and celebrating the 40th Anniversary of the U.S. Withdrawal from Vietnam.

Our event will be a recognition and celebration of our Vietnam veterans .... a chance to say thank you again for their service in Vietnam.  Our Post and Auxiliary have obtained a proclamation from the City of Fort Worth designating Saturday, March 30, 2013, as "Welcome Home Vietnam Veterans Day" in the City of Fort Worth.  Our councilman from District 7 in Fort Worth, Dennis Shingleton, will be present at our celebration to read the City's Proclamation.  Also in attendance to speak will be Captain Robert A. Bennett, Commanding Officer of Naval Air Station - Fort Worth - Joint Reserve Base and Rear Admiral James Lair, US Navy (Ret.), who will be covering the timeline of significant events of the Vietnam War.  In addition to members of our Post and Auxiliary, other participants will be Joseph Page, American Legion 12th District Commander and the Lone Star Squadron, US Naval Sea Cadet Corps. from NAS Fort Worth JRB will be presenting the colors and playing taps at our celebration.  We are collecting pictures and memorabilia from Vietnam veterans in our Post which will be displayed.   A cake will be made with an image of the Vietnam Wall honoring and remembering the fallen in Vietnam and a POW/MIA table with be prominately displayed.
