Honoring those who served in the 1968 Tet Offensive in Vietnam on Thursday, Jan. 31, 2013

 

The Texarkana area Chapter 278 of the Vietnam Veterans of America will honor and remember those who served during the 1968 Tet Offensive in Vietnam as part of the nationwide 50th Anniversary observance of the Vietnam War.  This will be held on the 45th Anniversary of the start of the Tet Offensive.  It will be held at the Korean/Vietnam Memorial at Seventh Street and State Line Avenue.

 

It will begin at 7:00 p.m.

 

The Tet Offensive was a major offensive of the North Vietnamese to once and for all take over South Vietnam.  It was a failure for them but cost the Americans and their allies many casualties, though even more for the North Vietnamese and the Viet Cong.
