Vietnam Round Table - February, 2013 Speakers – 1st Air Cav

The Central Pennsylvania Vietnam Round Table (CPVRT) will meet Thursday, February 14, 2013 at Vietnam Veterans of America, Michael J. Novosel MOH Chapter 542, 8000 Derry Street, Harrisburg, Pa. at 7:30pm.

Following a brief business meeting, two Vietnam veterans, Jay Snyder, Lower Paxton Township, Harrisburg and Reverend Dwight Edwards, Harrisburg, will discuss their experiences while serving in the 1st Air Cavalry Division in 1965-66. Mr. Snyder served with C Co/1/12th Cavalry Regiment in the An Khe area as a platoon leader till he was medevaced to Valley Forge Hospital in August/66. 

Following his service, Mr. Snyder held management positions with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and his love of tennis led him to become the Director of the U.S. Open Tennis Tournament in New York. Reverend Edwards, Pastor, Bethel AME Church, served with Recon Platoon/D Co/1/12th Cavalry Regiment.  He was medevaced to Valley Forge Hospital in the summer of 66.  Following his service, Reverend Edwards became a teacher, probation officer and talk show host in the Philadelphia area before going to  seminary/divinity school. He recently retired as an ordained minister.

The meetings are open to the public and, as a volunteer organization, we pass the hat to cover expenses. All persons interested in the history of the Vietnam War are invited to attend.
