Vietnam Veteran Kimo Williams with his All Veteran Blues-Rock Band

Kimo will also talk about music and fighting in Vietnam

March 27 at Ft Riley, Manhattan, Kansas

Event time: 6:30 p.m. 8:30 p.m.

With this performing ensemble of veterans headlined by Vietnam Veteran Kimo Williams, our goal is provide up to ten (10) job opportunities (at least 12 concerts a year) for veterans that will also include on-the-job training/internships for veterans experienced in, working in, or academically studying audio/sound, entertainment arts management or other music industry-related fields.  In addition to this opportunity for veteran employment, the Kimo Williams Band fulfills the first two objectives of the 50th Commemoration of the Vietnam War, as well as the mission of USVAP, by performing for public audiences as well as for veterans within state and federal facilities throughout the country.

Through these perfromances Kimo maintains dialogs with the audience about his service in Vietnam and the impact art (specifically as a performing musician) had on him and other Soldiers who he came in contact with. As it relates to objective 2, we highlight and show appreciation for the civilians who served in the Special Services Programs (75% were women) in Vietnam during the War. We emphasize the value of ART as part of the morale and wellfare intiatives in Vietnam and currently for those veterans who served in Vietnam within the Veterans Administration system.
