GLADWIN – The Gladwin Assembly of God Church hosted a Vietnam War Veterans Commemoration program event on Sunday, March 28. The program had a great turnout with a total of twenty Vietnam War veterans being honored, many of which were local.

This program acknowledged Vietnam War veterans who served in the armed forces from Nov. 1, 1955 to May 15, 1975. Many other war veterans also showed up to the event to show their support.

Among those being honored was Carol Randle, who is a sister to Vietnam War veteran, David Sterling who was killed in action during the war. She was awarded with a certificate of appreciation from the Vietnam War Veterans Commemoration as well as a gold star from the U.S. Department of Defense.

The American Legion Post 171 was present at the event along with their color guards. Compassus Hospice of Northern Michigan also provided certificates of appreciation to the veterans.

The Gladwin Assembly of God Church plans on hosting another veterans program possibly in the late summer after the successful turnout at Sunday’s event. The church has stated that they will continue to honor local veterans with similar programs and events in the future.
