Andrew McFowler

Command Sergeant Major Andrew McFowler began his career on 1 December 1966.  After he was drafted, he attended Basic training at Fort Benning, Georgia, and completed advanced Individual training at Fort Polk Louisiana.

His first duty assignment was as a rifleman with the 1st infantry Division in the Republic of Vietnam.  In Vietnam, CSM McFowler demonstrated his personal commitment to our national objectives as he advanced to positions of higher responsibility.  The first time he left Vietnam he was as a squad leader.

From Vietnam, CSM McFowler returns to the United States where he served two years as a drill sergeant at Fort Jackson, South Carolina.  He then moved to Germany where he was assigned as Tactical (TAC) NCO with the 7th Army NCO Academy for 11 months.

In 1971, CSM McFowler returned to Vietnam where he was assigned to 4-46 Infantry, 23 Infantry Division as a platoon sergeant/platoon larder.  From Vietnam, CSM McFowler returns to Fort Jackson as a Senior Drill Sergeant.  He was then assigned as a field recruiter from March 1976 to May 1979 working out of Athens Georgia.

From 1979 to July 1981, CSM McFowler served with the 2nd Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment.  First he works with Bravo Company as a platoon sergeant and later as First Sergeant.  He then moved to battalion staff assigned as the Battalion Intelligence Sergeant. CSM McFowler next assignment took to Panama where he was assigned to Alpha Company, 4-10 Infantry as the First sergeant.  In January 1984, CSM McFowler attended the United States Army Sergeant Major academy at Fort Bliss, Texas.  Upon Completion, he moved to Hunter Army Airfield, Georgia to serve as Alpha Company, 1st battalion, 75th Ranger regiment First sergeant until he was promoted to Command sergeant Major.

In October 1985, CSM McFowler moved to Fort Bragg, North Carolina to serve as command Sergeant Major of the 1st battalion, 505th Parachute Infantry Regiment.  In September 1988 he was selected to serve as the 3d brigade, 505th Parachute Infantry regimental Command Sergeant. In August 1990, he deployed with the 3d Brigade (nickname the Panther Brigade) to Saudi Arabia to participate in Operation Desert Shield and later moved into Iraq for Operation desert storm.  After the Panther Brigade redeployed in February 1991, CSM McFowler was selected to serve as the 7th Infantry Division Command Sergeant at Fort Ord California.  In August 1993, he was selected for the position of UNC/CFC/USFK/EUSA Command Sergeant Major in Yongsan, Korea.  In December 1995, CSM arrived at Fort Bragg as the command Sergeant major of XVIII Airborne Corps and Fort Bragg.

On 7 June 2000 CSM McFowler was selected as the Command Sergeant of U.S. Army Forces Command.  CSM McFowler retired from the United Stated Army on 1 February after 35 years of service.  On 1 July 2016 Andrew McFowler was selected as the Chapter President of the Braxton Brass chapter of the Association of the United Army.
