Roger Schultz

Roger Schultz completed 42 years and 9 months of uniformed duty in the US Army and the Army National Guard. Since leaving active duty he has served in leadership positions in the private sector.  He has been a Senior Vice President, Chief Operating Officer and President of Universal Systems & Technology (UNITECH) Inc., LLC.  In addition, he has served as a Director with the Lockheed Martin Corporation, Engineering Services Division. Later, he has served as a Senior Advisor, Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of the SENTEL Corporation.  He currently serves as the President of the Army Historical Foundation.

Lieutenant General Schultz was called to active duty on three occasions.  During 1968 he was mobilized with a Mechanized Infantry Battalion from NW Iowa.  He led both a Rifle Platoon and a Scout Platoon in the 2nd Battalion (M) 22nd Infantry in Vietnam.

General Schultz served as the Deputy Adjutant General, Iowa National Guard.  His first pentagon assignment included Department of Defense Military Support duties on the Department of the Army Staff. In Iowa, he commanded Infantry company and battalion formations.  Later, he served as the Iowa National Guard Operations Officer and Chief of Staff in Iowa in addition to Commanding the 2nd Brigade, 34th Infantry Division.  He has 27 years of emergency management experience at the state and national level.

General Schultz assumed duties as Director, Army National Guard, National Guard Bureau, Washington, DC on June 1, 1998.  As Director, he was responsible for the formulation, development and implementation of all programs and policies affecting the Army National Guard. In that capacity he was responsible for an $11.7 billion budget.  His active military service began in 1963.  He served 4 years as an enlisted Soldier and was commissioned an Infantry officer following Officer Candidate School at the Iowa Military Academy.

In addition to the corporate and public sector duties outlined above General Schultz has been an active volunteer. He served as a Senior Military Advisor to the Iraq Study Group.  He is currently a Director with Our Military Kids, Director with Armed Forces Benefit Association, Senior Associate with AAAA, Senior Associate with AUSA (Air & Missile Defense), Trustee with the US Army War College Foundation, Member of the DoD 50th Vietnam War Commemoration Advisory Committee and a Total Force Instructor with the US Army Senior Leadership Seminar Series.
