Vietnam War veterans from Pittsfield, Mass. traveled to Washington, DC on a 24 hour "Tour of Duty" trip (leaving midnight on Friday and returning by midnight on Saturday) to visit the Vietnam Veterans Memorial and other Washington, DC landmarks.
Most of the group are members of the Berkshire County Vietnam Veterans of America (VVA) Chapter 65. This Chapter promoted the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund (VVMF) "Call for Photos" project this past year and collected over 20 photos of the 27 Berkshire residents listed on the Memorial.
The organizer of the trip (pictured on far left) is Chapter President Fran Tremblay who served with the Marine Corps in Vietnam. To learn more about the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund's "Call for Photos" in partnership with The History Channel, visit http://www.vvmf.org/photos.
HISTORY and VVMF have partnered to advance the collection of the more than 35,000 photos still needed to complete the display for The Education Center at The Wall.
Anyone with a photo of a service member listed on The Wall is urged to scan and submit their photo online. Regardless of whether or not the Memorial Fund has a photo of the individual already, we encourage you to submit it anyway. We are trying to collect as many photos of each individual as possible.
If you have a photograph, you can submit it to VVMF by clicking here: http://www.vvmf.org/submit_other
If you need more information about how to add a photograph to the collection, please contact the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund at (202) 393-0090 or via email at mjohnson@vvmf.org
