Washington, DC -- November 11, 2013 – Women in the Military Service for America Memorial (WIMSA) draws on the strength of patriotic women’s organizations such as the Blue Star Mothers of America, Inc., which was formed in the United States in March 1942 to provide support for mothers who had sons or daughters in active service in the war.

Washington, DC -- November 11, 2013 – The Women in the Military Service for America Memorial served as a significant venue for a $852,684.00 donation to the Secretary of the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, The Honorable Eric K. Shinseki. The donation made on behalf of veterans supporting Brightening Veterans Lives will support the Veterans Administration Medical Center.
